First time fly fishing on the Towe. River was very high, which made it difficult. We ended up wading further downstream of the Crewill Pool where the river meanders. There seemed to be plenty of fish, but not much luck catching them. I only caught one small sewin on a blue flash damsel pattern using intermediate line in the late afternoon. Beautiful fish. Hooked a few bigger ones but didn't land them. Fantastic day though, plenty of wildlife to enjoy and stunning location. Access to the East bank of the river was very poor. Had to carve a route through head high weeds for a long way.

A nice piece of water meandering through pastures. Easy parking and easy walk to bottom of beat. Some fallen trees and tricky casting this time of year. Got three trout to 8" and these were hard-won fish over the course of a slow 6 hour stroll up the brook. Had booked Hindwell - Knill as I thought I would run out of water on Combe, but never got there.

Four Chub to 3.5lb on trotted corn and standard swimfeeder pellet techniques. A slow but beautiful day, giving my Dad the first taste of the Wye. We will be back.

Rained off but the beat looked promising. Huge thank you to the farmer who helped me get my car out after I, er, accidentally drove into a diditch. What a top man he was!

Surprised to be rained off here - I can only assume the reservoir must have dumped a load of over night rainwater into the stream as I was fishing near the very top of the beat.

Tagged this beat onto a session at Litton a mile or so away. Drove down to the bridge through the field as per beat map instructions if dry. Have a 4x4, wouldn't fancy it in a car (there is alternative parking).
Only fished for half an hour moving upstream from the bridge. It was very overgrown and so I gave up after landing one very hard fighting 11" wbt.
Maybe the lower section of the beat is more open, or perhaps a stream for earlier in the season. I'll try again next year.

Second visit to this stretch, river was relatively clear but not too low so we were cautiously optimistic. A small Barbel second cast on pellet helped but that was all the action we had until after midday and a change to meat produced a few small Chub with a better fish about 3lb. From 3pm until 45 minutes from the end again no action before the best fish of the day an 8lb 14oz Barbel which went some way to help what had been a somewhat disappointing days fishing up to then!

That said this stretch is set in some really beautiful countryside so it is a pleasure to be there, however purely from a fishing point of view we will be giving a different stretch a go next year.
