Started fishing early on the west side of the reservoir (Fly only) and caught 2 perch but NO trout. Moved back to the dam area just beyond the boat launching area around midday.
Fishing difficult and wind was extremely strong with very heavy rain at times. However, managed to hook 5 trout (landed 4) in between 1 pm and 3 pm. Intermediate line used with a New Zealand fly - Hammil Killer.
Fish caught fairly close into the bank and didn't need to wade, but had to beware of snagging flies on rocks when retrieving.
Fly Fishing this reservoir requires a lot of patience and endurance, however it can be very rewarding if one perseveres.

Arrived mid afternoon with the wind blowing branches off trees and 2 hours without seeing a fish rise, just thinking of giving up as the wind started to ease and a few fish began rising. Had one trout on an emerger, lost another, but the highlight was seeing a Lamprey of about 3 lbs.
I reached through the river and closed my hand around it, nothing for a fraction of a second and then it shot out of the water and kited across the surface downstream, I nearly ended up on my arse but it had me laughing out loud at my own stupidity.
Nice beat that has to be waded, which is tricky in parts.

4 healthy sized trout caught on mayfly patterns. A lovely secluded stretch of the Usk. At least 3 good sections of riffley type water that will interest the fly fisher; interspersed with longer, deeper, canal like stretches. Plenty of fish rising and an abundance of fly life.

Another cool grey day. Olives and May flies hatching off all day but most of the action happening under the surface. Found it hard to set a hook securely so scored 4 to me, at least 10 to my fishy friends! Where would the fun and sport be if we landed them all. PTN and beaded GRHE were the winners this time.

Nothing caught. Far too many very inconsiderate canoeists which made the day extremely frustrating. Had one idiot fall out of his canoe and when he saw it floating off with his girlfriend aboard he decided instead of hopping aboard his buddies boat, to follow behind to swim for it less than a rod length directly in front of me and directly across the pool I was fishing. When reprimanded for his lack of consideration he couldn't fathom what he'd done wrong. There are a few great pools but access is difficult due to steep banks and lack of ladders.

Bank holiday Saturday - Wye full of canoeists, making fishing difficult. Water still low, but improving. No pulls.
