Overcast and no wind to speak of, river clear and low, again, but a good few fish showing. Fish came from the Heirag, Herons and Bridge pool gutter. The type flies used didn't appear to matter, nor their size - everything from a Grannoms #14 to size 10 Connemara Black. One very big fish, either a huge brownie or a small grille lost at the tail of the Bridge Pool Gutter - estimations of 3 to 6 lb. Some would say "character building"!!! Shortly after 5, the heavens opened and it was like a tropical storm - and we called it a day, a very good day.

Sunny start - cloudy and humid pm brought on a hatch of Olive Dun and then later a more reddy brown (possibly Claret Dunn). Only fished dry flies and 2 trout taken using Paradun Light Olive Millikins. Heavy rain stopped play and brought out a very busy Otter to put on a show as I was packing up. Beautiful spot.

Although the river is low much of the water still looked very attractive and we fished it all pretty thoroughly with the fly. Didn't try spinning. Sadly no fish, nor any sign of one. Hoping for rain soon to liven things up before my next visit in early June.

A lovely warm sunny day. A lot of insect life about, especially midges. The river was very low and gin clear. No fish rising, saw a few trout in the depths. One turned and followed my nymph but was not tempted to take it. Numerous variety of flies and nymphs tried but could not tempt any fish.
Despite the ‘nil return’ an excellent day out with an old friend, situated in a most scenic part of Shropshire. Thoroughly enjoyable. With more conducive conditions this would be an ideal spot. Will certainly return here.

Very nice location but very low water levels made finding fish difficult. We managed 5 trout during the day, each 10-12 inch in size. No visible rise at all but one fish fell to a small dry and the other 3 to small nymphs fished as deep as we could get them.

Stream low and clear, so tough going. Casting tricky in many places due to plant and tree cover (8ft 3wt was a little long). Found best tactic was to find a fishy looking place with space for a back cast and wait for rises. A lot of junk in the stream (old tyres, fence panels etc), but lots of fish. Good fun and a rewarding challenge (missed as many as caught). Hawthorn, iron dunn and black ant (all small) all worked well.
Look forward to returning soon.

Water fairly low but had a great day out with a 5 ft rod and mayflies. Largest was 10 ounces and all were returned safely. Plenty of fly life and good hatches. Loved the wildness of the river and saw 3 x kingfishers. The best rises were very close under the bank - but that was the challenge !. Great day out - thank you. R
