We fished pellet feeder method at various swims thought the beat. No barbel at all, only 2 chub. I think that maybe we caught the fishery on a bad day as the same methods produced on 3 other beats fished during our long weekends fishing trip. Still a very nice place to spend the day, beware of a long walk back to the car park up a steep hill. I imagine if you are out of shape it would be very difficult carrying tackle.
Regards.

Down to the river at 9:45 following a late finish the night before at Holme lacy 4. River up 1m and coloured. Walked the beat only 3 swims fish able very overgrown. Made base at 1st swim vanstone pool. 3 oz feeder wouldn't hold. Fished close in with a 2.5 lead and caught 4 barbel all on robin red pellets. Fished over a bed of hemp under the willow. All barbel caught before the rain started(2pm) then no more bites. Had an eel earlier on as well in the same swim. Plenty of salmon leaping! Largest barbel 8lb on the nose!

Great beat would fish again. Thanks W&U

Fished the lower part of the beat, river 2' up but dropping slowly throughout the day. Weather was cloudy to start and then rain moved in later. All fish fell to pellet and feeder tactics. Unfortunately the river was pushing through just a little to much to get the float tackle out. Plenty of wildlife to be seen, first time I have seen an otter up close on the Wye, popped up out of the water about 8' away. Beat is still very well maintained, the walk to the end of the fishery seems to take longer every year or maybe it's just me getting old! Did not fish Monday as weather forecast said rain all morning on the 20th and 2 soakings that weekend was enough.

Went up for the afternoon with Shaun. Lots of grayling topping throughout the beat, Fly life in abundance, small olives and caddis of different sizes on the water which the grayling were really switch onto. I might have done better with these had I left the salmon rod in the car! Upper Wye should be great for the Tenkara day this weekend.
