Only fished beats 4 & 5. Used red flying C's and toby brass spoon, either of which are normally effective. Clarity of river was turbid but did see at least three salmon head/tailing near to the lodge.

Fantastic location, stunning scenery. Conditions were very windy with some rain. Caught 1 Wild Carp on sweetcorn that gave a great fight. Will return when conditions are more favourable for anglers.

River high and tried a few of the pegs through the day, just figuring out where the weed beds are as I don't know the beat that well etc. The barbel came as usual as light was falling on sweetcorn.

Fished on this beat for the week end; Saturday water a bit muddy caused by the heavy rain, but managed to catch 8 Browns with nymphs, 2 fishes over 1,5/2 pounds. On Sunday water was finally clear, sunny day, level drops down a bit. Fished most part of the day with nymph, lots of bite and many fishes lost. Later in the afternoon few fishes were rising, and with dry flies got 2 good sized graylings. Great beat, great location, surely I will come back.

Area:Usk

Beat:Glanusk Estate Fishery

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:2

Lovely fishery, hard going at times with the river carrying a foot of excess water. Struggled early on the nymph taking the first after lunch right at the top of the beat, and then a fleeting hatch of pale olives provided a very short spell of dry fly sport right at the bottom of the lower beat in the afternoon. Two more fish fell to emergers. 3 Fish between 8 - 14inch
Thanks
