1'7" falling --9lb salmon took silver stoats tail, long cast on U.Glangwye--evening

1 Salmon

First time on this beautiful beat. Walked the length and chose an area to target that looked good for the conditions, up about one foot.
We fished on groundbait feeder and pellet and got plenty of chub action with the occasional barbel appearance. The chub really did scrap hard today too. Best barbel was weighed and it went 9lb 2oz. Wildlife today included kingfisher, buzzard, mandarin duck with chicks, reed bunting, sparrowhawk, long tailed tits, heron to name a few. Plenty of swims to go at here and all well strimmed so access is good along the bank.

Late afternoon session fishing into dark. Barbel to 6lb, Chub to 4lb.

Water at 650cm, ideal conditions. Fish visibly active in the morning, with one 5lb salmon falling to a Flying C (red and silver lure) before lunch. Water falling slightly p.m. and no further salmon seen.

1 Salmon

An absolutely stunning day in the Welsh hills, river slightly coloured and a few inches on the gauge at Brecon. Very mixed hatch throughout the day with trout looking up most of the time. As many fish missed as caught using tiny nymphs and drys. More than makes up for the blank in the early spring!

A few fish rising but I couldn't get any to take my fly. Beautiful beat though!

Had the best days fishing ever on our beloved river Wye. Arrived early and a bit of colour in the water, fish fed all day catching around 12 chub to around 4lb and several Barbel to around 9lb. It was a great day and we can't wait to go back. Only think to note bank access is a little more challenging but this all ads to the adventure. Thanks again WAF.

A great day, river was high and difficult to fish. Never the less chub caught throughout the day and one very large eel. We had a little problem when we arrived about eleven as there was someone else fishing. He quickly packed up as he knew he was not meant to be there. When he was challenged he claimed he thought it was day ticket money collected on the bank. I noticed that the sign had been pulled off the post on the far side of the bank. I would like to compliment the farmer for the efforts he has made to allow access to the water for the anglers. All fish and eel were caught on luncheon meat.
