Cold wind with sunny spells, limited fly hatch. Couple of light takes on wet fly, no trout caught. Beautiful stretch of water.

Utterly miserable day! Arrived in sunshine but nearly had my door blown off by the wind as I got out of the car. Decided to walk to the very end of the beat and fish my way back to the car, but by the time I was as far from the car as I could be I was caught in a snow, hail and sleet storm with biting cold wind which lasted all morning. Got back to the car soaking wet and freezing cold but at least the sun had come out again. I got dry and warm and headed back to the river where there was as sporadic half-hearted hatch of upwings just enough to rise the odd trout or two in the fast riffley stretch, I managed two nice sized fish on a small dry fly but double hauling into a gale force downstream wind isn't much fun so called it a day. Beautiful, well maintained stretch, will be back before too long.

Unseasonably cold with cold downstream wind and hail and rain squalls. WT 8.5C. AT from 6 -10C. Cloudy with some sunny intervals later. Good hatches, mainly olives starting around 12.30pm and continuing intermittently until around 3.30pm. Caught 3 trout, best 1lb 6oz on dry olive, at about 1.30pm, during an intense hatch. Generally, the better fish were 'keeping their heads down', probably as a result of the chill, and most rising fish seemed small. It was encouraging to see the insect life and the numbers of small fish.

Clear water but a chilly day. Sheltered in the valley away from the worst of the wind. Hail shower middle of the day. Nice 14" wbt from pool in front of house at bottom of the beat. Caught on dry March brown. Raised a second fish in the same pool no less than 4 times to 3 different dries but he wasn't biting. Kept me interested for a good half hour. One other rise but no activity at all on the upper part of the beat. Saw the blue flash of a kingfisher. Aswan was enjoying surfing down the rapids. In the last field I was accosted by two lambs wanting food. Must have been bottle reared. A charming way to end a very pleasant day.

Very tough conditions but a steady hatch of LDO's and a few MB's from 1.30pm onwards made for some good sport on the dry fly.Nothing over 15" and all in good condition.A very large Otter swam right up to me in the Vicarage pool, I think he wanted to let me know who the top fisherman was in this part of the river!

I started fishing from Parking no 3, the stream was lovely with lots of features. Casting was difficult with overhanging branches and I would highly recommend using a wading staff or studs if anyone intends to wade as the rocks were extremely slippery. There are couple of high cliffs especially on the other side of the bridge on Parking no 3 which can be dangerous if not been careful. I didn't manage to fish all the stretch as I had limited time to fish but I will be coming back soon. I caught a lovely brownie on the blue pool using Czech nymphing with my own tied nymph.

The river was quite low, so I was fishing with casting practice in mind, so a blank day was well spent. My casting was much improved by the end. Catching will have to wait till next time

The trout rod fishing with me (was trying to catch a salmon) had great fun catching small brownies in the fast water with a dry fly. Think the rise was BWO's which hatched every time the sun came out.

Fished the upstream half of the beat after visiting the estate office. Weather was bright and mostly sunny as I made my way upstream looking for fish, eventually found a few fish rising right at the top of the beat and missed a couple of takes but casting from under the trees was proving difficult so headed back to find some easier to target fish as there was now a steady hatch of Olives. Found some fish rising in one of the pools and proceeded to miss take after take, hitting a few only for them to throw the hook soon after! All the time fish were rising in a slack under far bank trees so after spooking the easier to target fish I waded to a position that would allow me to target them. After a few attempts a big cast brushed the far bank branches and my small dry fly landed in the slack, moving slowly down steam a splashy take and a strike that met with firm resistance, luckily this one stayed on and after a spirited fight on my 4# a fish of over 2lb was netted and safely returned, chancing my luck I repeated the exercise and was rewarded with another good fish, possibly slightly smaller but still a lovely brownie. By now it was 2pm and so time to move to the down stream beat, unfortunately the weather had taken a turn for the worse with a strong downstream wind and rain. I only found a couple of fish rising, one refused stubbornly to take anything I offered it the other took the same fly at the first time of asking just down from the bridge. Decided to call it a day after that, very happy with the fish I took in the morning.
