Drove to the Wye through the snow! Fortunately the weather cleared and we had a sunny but cold day (3-9'C). Gauge at 2'9" which is on the high side for this beat, we were told by the owner. Water slightly coloured but not too problematic. We had 2 offers on the fly (sunk lines) and none on a spinner. Thoroughly enjoyed fishing this beat and we shall certainly give it another go!

A good hatch of March Browns produced a brace of nice 12" trout on a dry F fly. River full of litter though - shame really. It would be very pretty between Quakes Yard and Aberfan otherwise. Wading can be slippery over the large stones and boulders in the river bed. Would recommend a wading staff
Thank you to MAA for providing a nice day on the river

Lovely spring day's fly fishing. Great to be out seeing chub cruising, trout rising and the swallows returning. Caught a 14" trout on the last cast of the day.

Started fishing at noon. Occasional fish rising. Just before 1pm, a nice hatch of March Brown, which stimulated a reasonable but short lived rise. Had a 1lb 13oz trout on a dry MB. Some olives hatching sporadically from 1.30pm until about 3pm. Five more trout between the two of us. AT 8C - 10C, WT 8C. River at a good fishing height and clear. Dry, cloudy, sunny periods in afternoon. Feeling cold in breeze but generally a pleasant day.

A very fishy beat. A few good hatches throughout the day and managed to take one nice trout trout (1- 1.5lb) off the top with a Klinkhammer. Had a couple of knocks to a deep nymph.

Early morning conditions were very cold, I had to retreat to the car to warm up! It got warmer thereafter, but the river was probably about 1ft too high on the day.
I saw one fresh fish just below the rock pool, but that was the only sight I had during the day.
It's a nice stretch of river, and with lower water most of it would be wadeable. I'll keep an eye on the river height and come back for another day.

Conditions were good, saw a few trout throughout the beat but were easily spooked. Mayfly hatch around lunch time got trout moving and that was when I was able to match the hatch and bring one to the net of around 10 inches.

Two trout, one good sized to a Ptn under a Caddis and another to a dry March Brown, this being brought to the net during an intense but very short lived hatch of March Browns followed by the most voracious feeding, 15 mins ? Great to witness this for the first time! Not so great though for JH who still had a duo on and then tied on a silver sedge in the rush, all over by another change.
