I was surprised to see the river so high at this time of year and quite coloured. Decided to float fish for first half of the day catching several chub. Then in afternoon when canoes slowed down cast feeder out a few times to feed the swim then rested for 30 mins before casting out. Had a steady run of chub and barbel just into dark up to just over 7lbs and chub to just over 4 pounds. Wonderful place to fish in such beatific surroundings still good value at 25 pounds a day, I will be back.

River well coloured and first time on the beat. Two large barbel over 7lbs and five small males, with some still producing milt. Not bad for a short day session!

Small nymphs and spider patterns proved most successful, - fish were taken using both upstream and down-and-across methods, and all came from faster runs throughout the beat. Best fish was just over 2lbs, and all were safely returned.

River was fining down after a spate but still heavily coloured. Access was great as was the fishing. Usual pellets and feeder tactics had 14 barbel between us ranging frnom 2-8lb+. We will return!

The river was a delicate shade of chocolate brown and no fish were caught, we did, however see kingfishers and one salmon.
My guest had travelled many miles so, as the weather was fine, and we took the opportunity to enjoy the scene and watch the world, the swans and the canoes go by.

Saw very little signs of any fish at all. Spent 4 hours trying a variety of dry patterns; the closest I got to any interest was with a Deer Hair Emerger which was snapped at by a couple of trout neither of which made any solid contact, hence a blank day. Really enjoyed being on this lovely stretch of water though.

A lovely afternoon's fishing. Missed a few fast takes on small dries - down to my reflexes. Hooked only one small salmon parr.

Day two of our wye adventure, after a prolific day on lower canon bridge saw a change in the weather/pressure and as a result, although all the swims in the first field looked like they would hold plenty of fish only 3 chub to me and 2 barbel and 2 chub for my friend with a stonking 16 hours on the river with a gap at midday. We felt like we really had to try every swim in order to catch. With no indication of fish coming in the first 45 minutes in each swim we moved up and down the bank in order to locate the fish.
All in all a cracking couple of days and more fish than we have ever caught before on our local river the Derwent making us thirsty for more Wye action sooner rather than later. Thanks WUF.

Arrived to find the river fining down with a nice colour, started on the float and caught a small barbel of a 1lb and small chub and dace. After a couple of hours went on the feeder over the loose feed and finished with 7 barbel to 7lb and chub to 4lb, all on halibut pellet, tried corn and various other pellet without luck, overall a really enjoyable day, although I did lose 4 barbel and a few chub to poor skills !!
