Did not fish on account of weather forecast for Leominster/Ludlow area. Rain predicted most of Friday night which worried me about river colouring up. Then from 11am to 7pm today so decided not to travel. Will try again on another day !

Arrived to find the river carrying a lot of colour (this dropped out during the session) I suspect over night rain was the villain here, managed to catch a few fish including a trout which must have been 2lb plus and a Grayling 48cm as well as the usual mix of sizes. all fish caught on nymphs with the gorgonite nymph proving deadly.

Arrived to a clear river with mild conditions, took 3 chub to just under 5lb in successive casts then all went quite for a few hours, moved about with no further action.
Had a nice barbel around the 7 pound mark mid afternoon, packed up about 3pm. A very enjoyable mid winter days fishing in beautiful surroundings.

Mild breezy mostly cloudy day. River rising steadily though little colour. It looked good for a couple of barbel but no sign of them all day. Lost a good chub to a hook pull early in afternoon and suffered the same fate with another later on. And that was it!

River was pretty low. With the water being gin clear and barely any flow I thought the conditions would be good for Pike, but I didn't get a bite all day. Fishing sea deadbaits. Trotted suspended bait for most of the time as the flow was such a low pace and I covered a lot of water.
Only fish I saw was a salmon that jumped clear out of the water. Really struggling for Pike so far this season. Last year I did well, but this year they don't seem to be feeding that well yet.

48 x grayling 9-15 inches, 6 x out of season trout 8-11 inches, long trotting. A remarkably contrasting day of weather compared to the past cold week: the air temperature started at 10 degrees and rose to 14 degrees. Balmy conditions but with a strong upstream wind. The river was still pretty cold and showing 1 foot on the Llanstephan gauge. Once again there were a few large dark olives and surprisingly a short but quite intense hatch of willow fly - I thought we had seen the last of those for this year. I just carried on trotting. And I have seen the little egret again, which is getting to be a familiar sight.

Perfect 3 hours fishing. The weather was mild (12 degrees!) and the river, unusually for this time of year, was at a perfect height. All the fish fell to very small nymphs fished low in the water. No sign of shoaling grayling; each fish was from a different swim, but my day was limited to 3 hours so I did not get time to explore all of the beat.
