A few inches of water on and pushing through, started on the Wyebank pool and tried several methods and baits before finally taking a 2.5lb Chub to trotted maggot. An hour later an oos brown trout of 1.5-2lb took feeder fished caster before the swim went dead. A while later I spoke with Don and he suggested trotting a swim just down from the steps where the slow and faster moving waters meet, I did manage a 2lb chub late on but no other bites to feeder or float.

Arrived to a perfect river, 10 deg and 2 foot on and dropping.
Fished 3 different swims and had fish out of all of them. Had 3 good Barbel, one going 9lb all on maggots. Plus 5 good chub plus a few chublets. Lost 2 Barbel on bedrock. Wonderful day, the big barbel came at 4pm just as the light was going.

River had dropped since Sunday and was slower and better colour. Weather was mild but a strong downstream wind made for some difficulty. Had fish sporadically through the day, 2 barbel were 4lb and 6lb, all fish were caught on meat with pellets and meat in feeder. Decent autumn day. Fished in first field on the inside of main flow.

Similar conditions to yesterday, grayling still in same area. Leaves a bit of a problem later on in the day. However, two excellent days fishing.

River reasonable height fished mid/lower section only for very short period no fish caught, plenty of debris floating down river after a number of rain shower. One section of the river I was surrounded by salmon either jumping or breaching at least 6 one occasion 3 jumped at same time and another 4 further down stream. Need to improve on my attempts to catch Grayling.

Fished from 10am-3pm, plenty of surface activity from grayling and a salmon. Took a 14" fish in the first hour but had to wait until much later for the other two, one of which was a huge 17½" the other 12". I fished some excellent barbless tungsten nymphs (barblessflies.com) and lost several other fish who shook themselves off. Fish took size 18 nymphs under a Klinkhammer. Came across a freshly dead (suffocated) trout which was strange.
Good to have met Louis from WUF there and learnt about the work which was done on the river.

My first visit to this beat. Looking upstream from Lower Llanstephan when fishing there last week it looked very inviting with lots of likely looking water. One the day of my visit the gauge showed 1'9" and the air temperature was an unseasonal 14deg. Everything seemed set for a productive day but alas, no fish to speak of; one small grayling and one oos trout. The almost total absence of taps from fish told me it was just one of those days when the fish were not in the mood. Still, a nice beat and I will try it again soon.
Incidentally I found the fishing hut unlocked with the padlock seemingly unoperative.
