Another perfect day, warm/overcast, no wind, decent flow, bit of colour etc. Using the tried and trusted pellet/feeder landed 4 barbel and 1 chub, all of average size, around 7.5-8lb for the barbel, 3lb for the chub.

A mild still day and the river well up with some colour. Started around noon and had a barbel around 51/2lbs on pellet and feeder an hour later. Then all went quiet so I changed to meat and caught only a smallish chub. Moved to the bottom field but not a touch there for an hour so returned to my first swim. It was nearly dark when my last cast produced a bite and I was into an obviously good fish which went 91/2 lbs on the scales. A slow day but a very satisfactory end to the autumn's fishing.

13 x grayling 6-16 inches, 8 x out of season trout 6-13 inches, long trotting. Water high at 2 feet on the Llanstephan gauge, but not too coloured and falling off slightly as the day went on. A nice average size of grayling with a lot of 15 inch fish.

Conditions could not have been better for mid November, water had a bit of push and colour and not a breath of wind. Temp in the mid teens. I can only assume it caught the fish by surprise as they were not feeding to the extent that I thought they might. Nevertheless I caught two barbel
on pellet/feeder tactics of average size around 7/7.5lb, both late afternoon. As always, a great day out.

Monnow Grand Slam...Lovely day among the late Autumn colour. French-leadered Mary Coppperhead seemed most effective.

3 x grayling 6-14 inches, 5 x out of season trout 10-14 inches, Tungsten Hare's Ear and Pink Shrimp. A warmish cloudy day with the Arrow up by a a couple of inches, but still clear. Grayling seemed to be in a difficult mood. Unfortunately the out of season trout were very much to the fore, taking bugs, rising to a hatch of large dark olives after lunch and cutting redds - all these activities in the one day. What did please me was bumping into the otter, who was giving my favourite pool the works - and I managed to get his photograph for once!
