Small sporadic hatches of upwinged olives brought the occasional rise which resulted in one hook up and one lost fish on a dry fly from one of the few accessible pools. There was no further interest in the dries or nymphs offered the rest of the afternoon/evening.
Another beat with very difficult access along much of its length, especially the top right bank section above the second weir. Dense vegetation is to be expected at this time of year but large sections had overhanging trees down to the water, several fallen trees causing blockages (forcing an exit from the channel) and the steepness of the banks - in several places over 6ft straight up or down depending whether you were attempting to enter or exit the stream. Some spots could be fished from the bank but a long handled net would be required to land any decent sized fish. The lower section was not fully explored due to rain closing in and fading light so may have provided us with some more accessible spots.

River low and clear. Few rises but persisted with dry fly to no avail. Changed to nymph at end of session. Immediately caught 6"wbt and hooked and lost a better fish.

Caught 5 brown trout, lost another 4. Water level really was very low compared to a month or so ago but still great fishing. 1 caught on a balloon Caddis off the surface, with the rest caught on a bead head nymph suspended underneath. Did see what I thought were Yellow Dun's hatching.

River very coloured and it did seem to be more than just muddy, possibly some algae in the water.

Started at 5.30am, river alive with activity, and had two shad and lost a salmon around 6-8lb by 8am, all from beat 3. No more action thereafter but fish showing all over beat 3. Frustrated residents, mainly coloured. Should have started at 4!

Disappointing as there was no real fly hatch. The water was coloured and running well as a result of the thunderstorms the previous night. I made contact with three fish and brought one of about 5 inches to hand. Is it me or are there less fish about in this part of the Arrow?
