All fish caught in the afternoon as the sun came out briefly! Cold day but plenty of fish seen cruising around.
Had 7lb,5lb and 12lb commons and a 5lb mirror, fish spooked easily so all fish caught from different swims on pellet.....Will be back.

Only 1 Chub catch, river in good condition but a lot of debris. Really fast part of the river for feeder fishing.

River level 18" on the Llanstephan gauge. Most grayling about 10" but one at 14". The two trout were 10-12". My first visit to this beat and I agree with the WUF that there is lots of trout and grayling water to be fished with a nice variety of water. Fished a team of three flies with a weighted Red Tag on point and Hancock's Pet and Partridge & Orange as droppers. All caught fish as, after a change, did a Snipe & Purple. Managed to lose my landing net - should be floating down through Monmouth about now I reckon.

Beautiful part of the river, the fishing was slow as the river had fined down a lot during the previous day, the level was dropping steadily whilst we were there until it went clear. We started our session fishing with maggots for the chub and perch which proved to only catch a number of finger dace and chublets, nothing sizeable though. We switched to the ledger for the rest of the session and we managed to pull a couple of barbel on pellet and fish meal boilie near the end of the session. We stayed at the White Lion pub which was only a 10 to 15 minute drive away from the beat, very comfortable bed and breakfast, good ale and very nice food, they did us a packed lunch and filled the flasks up for us. We would highly recommend trying a stay here. Tight lines!!

Fished Czech nymph for most of the day and, despite a very cold early morning, fish were feeding.
Late afternoon I switched to float-fished maggots and took the best of the grayling, up to about 1lb.

Well I have not fished here before and it is a lovely stretch of water. the grayling were not up to much, french leader, czech nymphing, dry, they were just not having it. the 4 to hand were 10-18 inches. Water was crystal clear and running well but nothing happening in the feeding lanes. a few rises but very very small fish splashing at olives. But I must admit its a wonderfull piece of river and will have to give a few different areas a go next time

First time on this beat. Started with French Leader and heavy nymphs. Water at a good height.50 on the climary gauge. Good access to the river from this bank. 8 good sized Grayling from 14 to 18 inches and 2 oos trout either on the cased caddis or pink shrimp all taken in the fast deeper water with gravelled or shingled bottoms. I think this would be a great dry fly stretch if you get the conditions right on the day.

First time on the Lugg, hmm.. ? Low and slow, and the pools were full of debris. Access in the wooded areas is disappointing even though you have prior warning. A frustrating debut drew a blank and left us wondering regarding previous catch reports and what lay in store at Lypole on Sunday.
Oh, AB is demanding his tiny 3 incher be counted in the catch, I said that wouldn't really be right, I take it he was talking about the tiny grayling? The water was quite cold though !

Only fished the afternoon for a few hours, the river was up a few inches from 2wks ago and the pace quicker which can make a lot of different on a shallow stretch like this one, it was also a lot Colder. The extra pace and cold water made it hard fishing .....
