So much for the warm, sunny forecast. It rained most of the day and at times was torrential. This was my first time at Sennybridge but much of the river was too deep to wade and the rain made it impossible to see the bottom. The bedrock and sudden drop offs are dangerous in those conditions and I fell in twice.
This was a hard day all around and I was surprised to catch the 4 fish I did. Only fished the lower half of the beat which took most of the day. The river here is stunning but getting into good positions to cast and wading close to fish nymphs is difficult. Will try again in more favourable conditions.

Area:Severn

Beat:Bideford Brook

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

A dismal start with heavy rain in the morning, the stream is overgrown in places with Himalayan Balsum spreading rapidly. There is a tree down across the stream which appears recent and makes passage difficult, not the easiest fishing but very rewarding. I brought five wbt to hand and lost a few more, nothing rising so all taken on gold ribbed hares ear nymphs.

Area:Lugg & Arrow

Beat:Lyepole

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

Very slow start from 12 - 3pm only picking up a few grayling one of which 17 inches then from 3pm - 4.30 the grayling woke up to pale waterys, autumn duns and ldo's and landed a further 13 or so mainly on size 20 pale watery dun patterns. All trout took nymphs at the heads of pools. Could do with a few more inches on the Lugg gauge to get some pace back into the water but all in all not a bad half days fishing.

First time on this beat. River chocolate brown and too high to wade if you are not familiar with the beat. Dropping and clearing at 5pm all fish on olive tungsten nymph close to the banks.
