First time on this beat, beautiful dry fly water with the majestic Brecon Beacons as a back drop.Fished with long leader nymphs while waiting for an early afternoon hatch to start and caught my first fish of the season (15") below the bridge on a size 14 copper head hares ear jig.Around 1.30pm LDO's started coming off the riffles and four fish were caught with several others pricked on a size 14 Deer hair quill bodied emerger.I look forward to coming back when the weather warms up.

Nymphing and speculative dry fly. Expected to catch a few graying along with some trout. Not a single trout. Does this section have a good head of trout? All grayling in fantastic condition.....fully mouthed (as in haven't had their lips ripped off).
Left Derby at 0530Hrs and was on the water at 0745Hrs. Excellent day.

We have been fishing for the first time on this river. Started early on the morning and the water was pretty cold. Have been trying few different flies, but had no bite. Can you give us some tips about flies type? Thx. Janusz

Another cold and windy day with river clear and fairly low. Second visit to this part of the river, with easy parking and access. Fished again with two weighted nymphs on a floating line. Worked by way up from Stone to Lady Alexander's catch with not much action, Found a willing Grayling of about 6 inches that couldn't resist my Red Tag. After three hits managed to land this little monster. Well hooked but netted and returned it with no problems. Did try to get further upstream but found path heavy going. Would advise people to test out path prior to tackling up. Wading was difficult but very new to this and wadding stick a must. A good swim as last year helped land a 10-15lb cock salmon, worth a third visit.
