A quiet day's fishing, not much happening at all. The Barbel put up a good fight for its 5lb 9 oz. The weather was fine, sunny spells and cloud. Fished pellet and feeder and had trouble holding bottom in the heavy flow and weed pushing through. Lovely spot though and would go back. There was a constant flow of canoes all day, but then it was a bank holiday Saturday and they were all polite and apologetic, but caused no real disruption. This spot was teeming with geese all day coming and going in formation. The beat is very accessible from the car park.

Beautiful day weather wise and the river was running fairly clear. Didn't see many fish, maybe 4 or 5 rises. Had a brownie to about 3/4 of a pound on a small grey wolf and missed a couple of others. Small hatch of damsel flies later in the evening.

After a few days of very heavy rain I returned to this beat for an evening session (5.30pm to 8.15pm) hoping to find some more water and fish on the feed. Surprisingly the level was only a few inches above last time - with just a bit more flow and water still gin clear. However this was enough to switch the trout on. In the first pool I landed 2, and missed 3 more. 8 were brought to hand, including several nice 12 inchers, with most at 9 - 11 inch. At least 3 times as many were missed, pricked or lost- all on dry parachute adams. Great sport for a few hours!

Fished the first swim under the bridge road side. Used feeder with banded 6mm pellet over hemp. Had a chub around the 1lb mark followed by a few smaller ones. Chatted to a local guy who fished on the other bank he reckoned my swim wasn't one of the favoured spots so I moved down stream opposite him and watched while he had around ten barbel in a few hours. Local knowledge is a wonderful thing. At least I know what to do next time.

Myself and a friend fished the river from Abercanaid up towards Merthyr town. The water was a couple of inches up with a nice colour to it. There was a massive bwo hatch on with the air filled with flies. We both managed to catch 2 dozen plus fish each ranging from 12oz up to 2 1/2lb.

Spent a good afternoon one this beat. I only manage a single fish but rose 2 others. I fished most of the beat with a 3.6m tenkara rod. I did not have too much trouble using this length rod.
