Arrived at around 8am with the river looking in fine fettle, started fishing and within half an hour my companion Steve knight had a fine brown trout of 2lb caught on a claret and silver Abu tormentor fishing for salmon. I meanwhile was fishing between the platforms and the rock pool and hooked and lost a salmon on the fly, my first time out with the double handed! My companion had a couple more trout on the same Abu lure and we stopped for lunch, we started again fishing below the bridge and straight away Steve knight had a slightly coloured salmon of around 4lb which was returned, this was very quickly followed by another 7.5lb salmon also by Steve both caught on the Abu tormentor! He then lost a good fish up past the cables which I estimated to be well into the mid teens, again on the same Abu lure!! We then decided to celebrate with a pint in the recently opened chain bridge public house, which I think will do well with anglers fancying a sup after a satisfying days fishing. We finished the day off up by the rock pool and guess what? Another salmon of around 8lb caught and released by Steve knight and his claret and silver Abu tormentor!!
That was the end of a fantastic days fishing 3 salmon 2 lost and numerous decent brownies, all caught by my companion and his tormentor lure,
Thanks Barry for talking me into going at 10pm the previous evening!!

Nearly 200lb of chub and barbel were caught by friends who bad their turn to fish this amazing beat. A clear must fish beat if you are visiting the Wye.

A fairly good day. The lads battled into the wood, they were not impressed with the dangerous nature of the wood and disappointment with the fields below and inaccessibility of the river. Upper pools produced later in the day. Again another beat where work is needed to improve the fishing experience or reduce the cost of the ticket. The boys had to contend with people walking the beat and pestering them for information too.

Water very low and clear, but during the day it did rise 4". Fished the middle of the beat, just to the right of the gravel bank. Second rod fished the off the gravel bank but nothing caught all day. The Chub were all caught on pellets, all over 3lb the biggest was 4lb 7oz. My PB, lost 1 big barbel, but landed a 7lb 9oz late on. Long walk if you don't use the farmers taxi, well worth the fiver each way. Good stretch of the Wye, well looked after and quite a few pegs to choose from.

River low and fairly clear, had a bit of trouble finding the right gate to go trough from the farm yard but got there in the end! Fished in fits and starts all day dying off as evening approached? Its a long drop to the water from the bank so a long landing net pole is needed if staying on dry land, our 10 foot handles being just long enough. Most bites to pellet feeder, quite a few anglers on the opposite bank, still a great day on the Wye, many thanks WUF.

All fish came to feeder and pellets of various flavours with crab or cheesy garlic favourites!!! River had very little flow and the big clumps of weed coming through made fishing awkward at times. It was still another lovely days fishing on the Wye. Biggest barbel was over 7lb and the biggest chub over 4lb.

River was just rising a little (not too much). The water temperature had dropped too. That's the excuses over. Still had a great day - 5 barbel to 9lbs 10z plus 4 others. Didn't get there as early as required as the Severn Bridge was closed due to wind. Left early too. The weed was coming down as you would expect with the river rise but not a problem.

A tough day due to the cold rain, but the river was in the finnest form I've seen in some time. A number of fishing moving and taking dries in between the gusty winds, and a lovely 14" male fish brought to the net after taking an olive paradun.

Ollie and myself arrived down the stretch at around 6 am. We started off down the bottom pool and got action almost immediately on pellet feeders. Fishing was frustrating though as there was a lot of weed coming down making it impossible to keep a line in the water for longer that 2 minutes. We took 7 small barbel all under 2lbs before trying a few other swims without any bites. I then rolled meat for about an hour and caught a few chub before leaving at 1 pm for some lunch and a rest. I called Don who was really helpful and gave some good advice. We came back down around 5pm and done some wading and rolling meat which produced chub to about 4 and a half lbs. After this we took Don's advice and went back to the bottom pool on feeders and pellets. Bites came as our feeders hit the water and we started to catch barbel constantly between 1 and 3lbs. The weed had also seemed to have cleared up and we were able to keep our feeders out there. Bites slowed down as it started to get darker. I finished off with a chub around 4lbs and Ollie managed the best barbel of the day. A fish around 7lbs on sweetcorn right at last knockings. All in all a good day despite the tough conditions good catches are possible on this stretch.
