1 carp approx 14lbs and an unexpected small chub on floating biscuit, plus another good carp lost. Should have had a few more. For those of a nervous disposition there are cattle with calves in the field alongside the lake, including an enormous bull.

A hot day with bright sunshine and low water didn't encourage the barbel to feed until late but a few chub here and there kept us happy. A small flurry of activity before dusk saw three nice barbel landed to add to our dozen chub, all on halibut pellet.

Fish splashing about but no contact. Also the first hint of a green tinge to the water. I believe I dropped a Pflueger Trion reel in the car park area - any news would be welcome either to the foundation or to timedmunds@aol.com

It is a joy to see that the riparian owners of this beat are putting in some bankside effort for coarse anglers. Hats off to the waterkeeper/gamekeeper for all the good work he has done there.
Fishing was a bit slow at first despite good flow for the summer. Things improved when the was some cloud cover towards the afternoon. All fish taken on swimfeeder pellet.

Day one of our 5 day trip found the river low and clear with an unseasonably cold wind blowing. Fish were difficult to catch but a few were tempted by various pellets and boilies in the field downstream of the wood.

5 Barbel, 9 Chub
