The river was in perfect condition with plenty of fly life. I gave the stretch a good working with dry fly & nymphs, but unfortunately without success. there were plenty of fry in and around the margins + weed areas.

A glorious warm day with lots of grannom, caddis, small and large upwings including a lone yellow may but few rises relative to the amount of fly life. All fish caught bar one came to dries. Very close encounter with a dog otter, which was delightful and made my day as much as the fishing! The river was low and clear but tea stained after a spate the previous day.

Early start. River good height at 0.82m and falling.carrying a little to much colour at first but perfect by close of play. A lovely day in great company ensued but no sign of Salmo Salar. Intermittent hatch of mixed Ephemera including Yellow May Duns throughout the day but only occasional riser.

Lovely beat & fantastic scenery but caught the river slightly up but coloured with visibility about 12 inches . contacted one or two and was broken by something decent . Banks mainly wooded making access difficult and with the river coloured was not confident on wading to deep for our first visit. lots of otter signs, no rising fish on our day due to no fly hatches = no fish.

Superb conditions now with fish in all the pools. Good lift of water overnight made all the difference. Sadly 2 fish lost this morning but what great sport. Had to leave early today but will definitely be back tomorrow. Fish showing on beats 3 and 4 [ thats all I had time to see.] Sad shortage of angling effort given the conditions are good. Only saw 1 other rod, hope he did better.
