Water low and clear, but allowing access to long sections of this terrific beat. A brisk wind made casting tricky, but we managed to bring 9 good fish to the net - all safely returned - the best at 2 lbs.
Most were taken on small weighted nymphs, though the larger fish took a Black Pennell fished through the faster water at the tail of the pool just below Talybont Bridge. This top section of the beat proved most productive during the day, and when the wind dropped briefly we were able to secure a couple on a dry fly.
A great day, and thanks again to WUF - always a pleasure to deal with.

We fished this beat as part of a weekend trip, the weather wasn't particularly kind to us. The beat is a mixture of glides, riffles and pools - some of which are extremely deep. A cold start to the day saw no rises and proceeded with nymph. At lunch we noticed a few olives coming off and the fish responded in the faster water. 2 fish caught both to jingler dry fly.

Lovely day, despite a snow storm in the middle of the afternoon. Fish moving but not taking. Nathan is an excellent and well informed guide, not only that, he has a fine sense of humour, always good on a day where the fish don't want to come to the fly....

Nice to be back on this varied and demanding beat. Bright day with sunny intervals, breezy at times. Temp in the morning was around 8-9C, around 13C in afternoon. Not many flies coming off in morning. Fished pockets and faster water around the bridge at bottom of beat with bugs. But little activity. Moved up onto the flats late morning--some dark olives coming off. Fished NZ-style and caught a nicely conditioned trout around 2lb mark on nymph. After lunch there was a hatch of LDOs and fish came up immediately. Landed two both around 1lb mark on dry fly. Satisfying day, and managed to stay on my feet and stay dry!! SEP

A disappointing day on a brilliant looking beat. There are obviously some really good fish here but the cold relentless wind put down the fish and the fly.
Not many olives hatched despite yesterday's blizzard of LDOs 5 miles upstream. There was a short 20min hatch of MBs at lunchtime which produced a few fish but others had to be hunted out. 15 trout to 15"

Not much in the way of fly on the water, at about 1pm there was a half decent trickle of bwo's and true mayfly which I was pretty shocked to see this early! sadly only the odd fish rising to them so stuck with nymphing. average size of trout 12 inches with one nudging 14 inches and all grayling between 10-16 inches. what a difference this river is without any rain water pushing through, gin clear and quite low now and a stealthy approach was needed . All trout and grayling came to single 2.5mm tungsten bead Baetis nymph.

Day three of my trip with more hail and the never ending cold downstream wind. The desire to endlessly cast the long rod with French leader searching for numbers had left me so snoozing on the bank waiting for flushes of March Browns at likely looking spots seemed like the Gentlemanly thing to do. The short action that happened rewarded me with three fish with the best at a very solidly built 17" which put up a great fight. All taken on size 14 para Adams.
