25 grayling between 3 rods, best around 2.5lb with 4 over 2lb and a good chub of around 4lb. Most of the fish caught on maggot long trotting and a few caught on pink shrimps under an indicator. River was in great condition and access was good. The better fish were in the deeper pools.

No fish caught, river just too fast and too much debris floating down.

Fished 7.00am - 11.00am, river clear and just above summer levels. A pleasant morning trotting with the centrepin. The Grayling were certainly hungry, I fished 5 or 6 swims and caught in all of them. I weighed the biggest one at 1lb 15oz, I am yet to catch a two-pounder so I fiddled around with the scales to see if I could get another ounce but no joy. Oh well, I'll just have to go back again.

Persons of a purist disposition, do not read on! Arrived with excitement & trepidation to christen my new Tenkara Rod, ideal conditions so no excuses. I was grateful to find 2 x out of season 9" Wild Browns & 2 x Grayling one of 8" plus a tiddler. All taken on a orange beaded PTN.

Fished beat 2 at Whitney Court just above the island till midday. Only produced 2 fish - a beautiful brownie about 2.5lb and 5lb chub. We moved down stream because my son kept getting snagged up on weed to just below island which produced the rest of the fish. Not one chub was under 4lb. A very pleasurable day and the river was in good condition. Hope to be on the stretch soon, work permitting.

13 x grayling 6-12 inches, 8 x out of season trout 6-10 inches. No large grayling today, but mainly shoats of 10 inches or so. On the last day of October, I can't believe it's so warm all the time. Nights seem to be 14 or 15 degrees while days are 17 or 18 degrees. Water still slightly high (it's hard work wading up the Lugg with the water foaming round your knees). Started as usual here using heavy nymphs with most fish taking a Pink Shrimp. It takes the whole of a short winter time day to do this beat thoroughly with nymphs. Stopped for lunch at the bridge, noting the parapet capping stone marked 1844. Shortly before dusk, I found a whole glide with a population of rising grayling. Glad to find a tapered leader in my pocket, I took off the nymphs and made up a dry fly leader with a Grey Duster and caught the last 5 on that, which made a very happy end to the day. Before driving home, a pleasant chat with the owner who was working on her cottage while owls hooted all around us.

Lovely mild day and my first visit to this attractive beat. Lots of fishy looking water at a nice level but tricky wading in parts (wading staff essential). Nothing rising but persuaded 5 grayling (best 14") to take a hot-spot weighted nymph and 1 trout to a PTN. Several salmon on the move including one splashing spectacularly at the head of a pool.
Looking forward to a repeat visit when I can get to know the beat better, especially where the easier wading may be.

Despite recent rain the Ifon was still running low, and on what was the warmest Halloween on record I caught a few nice grayling off the top and lots of parr too. I love the Irfon valley at this time of year. Thanks WUF.
