Quite a lively day, weather wise. River still high, so fished the 1st swim on the opposite bank all day (the other swims would have all been a bit tricky with the elevated level). Managed 3 barbel during morning and early afternoon. Fishing in the last few hours became very difficult with all the leaves etc being blown in by the gale. All fish caught on ledgered pellet. Another thoroughly enjoyable day on a lovely stretch.

Very difficult day for a River Wye novice especially running so high - not surprising the day after a Hurricane but still trying for my first Barbel.
Will be back next year to try again.

Conditions were a bit difficult. River had risen about a meter over night after the rain and was pushing through hard. Lots of debris coming down. Using feeder and pellet, managed to winkle out a barbel to around 7lb at dusk on the last cast.

A relaxing day as we were the only two at the water. Stiff cold breeze, tufted ducks but no fish seen or caught all day. Look forward to the next time.

Feeder method. River running high, cold and coloured with large amount of leaves following heavy wind, so not easy fishing.
Very enjoyable!

River was high and fast. Fished around the cable crib swim between crease and slack water mainly to hold bottom with 4oz feeder. Overcast conditions with a little rain. 7lb barbel the best of 7 fish plus a couple of eels. All fish on maggot. Excellent stretch with easy access.

Stayed at Red Lion in Madley - cheap and cheerful with good big breakfasts and he even made us some sandwiches for the day free of charge.
Much colder than the previous day with high winds. River was slightly lower than the previous day. Fishing very slow.

2 Barbel, 2 Chub
