A great day for the 'chuck and sit down boys' - yes the worm boys had the results. For the fly angler no such luck, fish were not interested in chasing lures. Am I bitter towards the worm lads? No, for I enjoyed the location and the challenge.

Description said some good winter piking spots? I could walk across 95% of the river! Waste of £24.
WUF Note: The extremely dry weather of the summer and early autumn has lead to some extremely low water levels. We ask that you take conditions into account when reading beat descriptions. Middle Ballingham has some good winter pike spots in normal winter conditions.

The river was low. It was an overcast and misty morning but we had a sunny afternoon. We fished swimfeeders with elips pellets of various sizes, meat and sweetcorn.
We used various hook lengths and hook sizes. The only fish came in first half hour after that no one had a bite all day. Fished from 7.30am to 5.30pm how bad is that only catching one fish! It was a nice place.
The barbel caught was 6lb 12oz.

Fished dawn til dusk with all fish coming at either the beginning or end of the day when the sun wasn't directly on the water. The eight hours between the two periods of activity were hard work! All fish, including a small dace (?), were caught using the feeder with either pellets or dumbbell boilies. The river was no lower than it was when I last fished Wyebank back in early July but there was a lot more loose weed and debris running through the swim that kept catching on our lines. There were also a lot of canoes/kayaks between 12pm (after the rain stopped) and 4pm. All fish were small but pristine, the largest being just shy of 3lb.

11 Barbel, 2 Chub, 1 Other
