I enjoyed my day. No catch to report, lots of traffic on the river and they also were enjoying their sport but at times there were up to 10 boats every ten mins or so. I don't worry about the boats and I enjoyed the day. I had one pull round but suffered a hook pull. I'd love to fish this section of the Wye again, there are a lot of Barbel there. No complaints. Many thanks and best regards.

First time on this beat, bit featureless to be honest. Parked at top field near tree line left kit at river's edge and walked both ways before deciding where to start. First point of call was second swim off to the left ....blankety blank for 2 1/2 hrs. Moved to first swim to the right from the tree line, same tactics and within minutes a 2-3lbs chub. 35mins later another, both to meat. Out went the feeder and elips pellets, 1 1/2 hours of nothing.
Had a good chat to the other angler on the beat and resumed the challenge...around 5:30 haha this is obviously eel time and good ones as well. 2 on meat with cracking running bites and one to the pellet hair rigged!!! It ruined the rig so I went back to the meat. At 6:50 ish another small 1-1/2 chub took the bait but this was again followed by another eel. That was enough for me today. Will be interesting to see other reports from today as a comparison, thought I fished OK.

Fished Upper Bigsweir today, lots of fish showing in the morning then the sun came out and put fish down. A very promising beat could do with a little tlc, ie access into the river not very good unless you are a mountain goat!!!!!

Great day, also added to my entomology knowledge, seeing the mayfly and sedge duns and spinners so clearly. Started at the bridge and waded upstream, there is a path through the woods on the east with several paths down to the river requiring a 10 foot climb, although there are rough 'steps'. Wood stream can be quite deep, and the path stops before Chine. Meant to stay longer, but left at 7pm, but will be coming back to discover Chine and Rock pools. Thoroughly enjoyable, but I find the first visit is a getting to know you session.

Fished the wooded section in a great swim near the big rock from 2pm until dusk. The river was low but had the first fish on the first cast. Barbel from 4 to 9 lb, chub 2-3 lb. A bit snaggy, lost quite a bit of gear but a totally amazing day for Joe's first trip to the Wye. Day 1 of 3. TBC......

Another excellent days fishing on Wyebank, 10 barbel caught in the bottom pool using feeder and pellet. The fish were at the bottom end of the pool and came steadily through the day. All were within the 2 to 5lb class. I spent the evening in the river freelining meat on the centerpin which produced 2 good sized chub around 4lbs and 2 barbel around 7lbs at the top end of the beat. There can't be a better or more prolific fishery on the Wye. Back in september... can't wait.
