Fished from the croys and on the beach section. Just the one barbel. Tried every method we knew but couldn't find the fish today. Day 3 of 3 - had a wonderful time on the beautiful River Wye. Do we all really know how lucky we are to have this river and to have the fishing managed by WUF? Thanks to all at WUF, we'll be back.

Water as low and clear as can be possible. I fished with a 50+ year old split cane 7 ft rod and 6 weight dry line and managed two small par in the wood stream. John Phillips went to the top run and had a similar experience. This was from 7 -8.30.
John switched to rock and lost one beauty on a CDC and landed one of about half pound. I went in at the steps for last half hour while John fished tail of Chine Pool. I landed 5 between 9.30 and 10 all between half and three quarter pound, and lost several large fish in the rock cut. A very lively half hour. John had one small fish at the tail which was disappointing. Probably fish move from the belly up the cut to the faster flow at the rock as many large fish were feeding late on. Surprisingly good last half hour given the water conditions.

Evening session using methods recommended in Courtfield literature provided landed two large barbel, a large chub and some smaller ones on one rod. Despite using the same set up the other rod had just one small knock. Good sport. We'll be back soon hopefully.

Cracking days fishing, the sport was non stop. This beat seems to be the nursery area at the moment as there seems to be only smaller ones to be caught. The largest one of the day was 4lbs 10oz. The largest chub was 3lbs 6oz.
All were caught from the bottom pool on feeder and pellet.

Fishing:Trout (River)

Access is very challenging and the levels appeared low. Spent the first hour surveying the beat from top to bottom and another two hours finding accessible spots to fish. Frustratingly poor access and little signs of fish meant that I gave up after an hour of fishing and moved on.
