First time on this attractive beat. River very low and clear so not the best conditions, but we managed five barbel to 7 lbs and a chub from various pegs along the top end of the fishery.

River very low. A beautiful stretch with easy access but the water was too warm and unfortunately we both blanked. Needs a good flushing through, will be back.

Superb spot. However, I had difficulty finding the beat. Caught 4 small grayling although a very large fish was hooked but the inevitable happened and it got away!! All grayling caught on tungsten nymphs. No rises.

2 Grayling within 10 minutes of arriving although didn't arrive until after 4.30pm both fish on nymphs fish rising but very sporadically. Weather warm and sunny, stayed in the Lake and Country House Spa Hotel which was very nice. I will return, this is one of my favourite beats to fish in Wales albeit its a bit of a trek on a warm sunny day if you have bad knees!!
I have never seen the water so low while I've been coming to Wales for the last four years.

PT Nymph New Zealand style. Three fish over 12" (one 15" taken). Access to river above second weir almost impossible due to huge growth of brambles and other scrub. Walking back to car, I noticed a sign indicating end of beat for W&U fishing which is clearly in the wrong place (if the map is correct). The sign is on a post (hidden by brambles) half way between the two weirs on RHB looking downstream.

Beat:Serenity House Upper Irfon Fishery

Fishing:Trout (River)

River was low in places with not a lot of fish evident. Those that were caught were small. Stopped at Bryncelyn which was excellent. The owner could not be more helpful. The pub across the road did good food and brewed its own ale., a good night.

Fishing:Trout (River)

Just fished the morning until mid- afternoon. Very misty until about 10.30am but once the mist cleared and the sun appeared, a hatch of small, pale olives got fish looking up with most fish caught being non-risers and almost all taken on a UB Duck's Dun. A few YM's around as well. It then became cloudier and rather breezy around midday and the hatch diminished but fish were still risen to the UBDD. Changed to a grizzle Elk Hair caddis for the early afternoon and continued to rise fish until I headed home. Most fish 8-10 inches plus a few 11-13 inch fish as well.
