River at summer levels, warm and clear. Boys rocks looked to be the swim of choice with a lovely deep hole on the run off, we both managed to squeeze in. Standard pellet and ground bait feeder was the preferred method and accounted for a good number of barbel throughout the day with the largest being just shy of 10lb with some lovely fat chub which pushed 5lb. Didn't have too much trouble with lost tackle which looking at previous reports had plagued anglers in this swim. Salmon leaping and splashing through the day and enjoyed watching a succession of salmon anglers on the opposite bank trying for them. A very enjoyable day in beautiful surroundings, thanks again WUF. Looking forward to booking the October session shortly.

Drove across the field towards the smoke from the infamous pump at 1300. The area adjacent and upstream was being strimmed and I was allowed to drive up the bank to the top of the beat to find a quieter spot. There are accessible swims and I fished meat with a feeder until 17.00. The only catch was a very big eel.
AT 17.00 I decided to chance the area around the extractor. The noise is bearable but being upwind of the fumes is rather unpleasant. Three good chub (around 4lb) were landed on pellet but not until after 19.30 when the pump was switched off. Two barbel of similar weight to the chub were lost in the shallows just in front of my net.(River very low and clear) This is an idyllic spot when it is silent and the number of salmon leaping and the abundant wildlife remind you why you fish the Wye.

Only 2 weeks ago this little river was alive with Mayfly. With their departure it has become surprisingly quiet; very few hatching insects and hence few rising fish. What fishing could be done was sight fished with upstream nymphs.

First time on this beat for me and it really is a picture. I fished mainly the bottom end and picked up fish throughout the day finishing with 6 barbel up to about 8.5lb and 10 chub to 3.5lb all caught on either halibut or Robin Red pellets making for a great start to the season. Now a word about exiting the field! It is iffy but I found if you get as close to the road as possible and wind your window down you can hear the approach of any car to your right because you certainly can't see them get out quick and park up a few yds to the left and then shut the gate. Thanks once again W.U.F for another lovely day on the best river in the country.

Fishing difficult on a low clear river but what a wonderful stretch with everything you need fast gravel runs deep sections and deep gulleys under trees. Tried touch legering and feeder fishing on both upper and lower sections but only a couple of Barbel to show late afternoon. Day was very hot and bright which did not help but still really enjoyable. My fellow angler had a kingfisher land on his rod tip which made his day. Lower section is very snaggy so lost and couple of feeders. Thanks again to WU for a wonderful stretch.

Typical Wye chub early on a pleasant day by river, then uninterrupted by any further action. Lowish water, bright conditions and beat confines with limited and occupied hotspots made for a disappointing day. Large number of salmon moving all day long didn't help!
