Nothing caught. An interesting observation though whilst fishing cadora rocks. On a flat rock was a complete salmon skeleton, jawbone and complete salmon skin. No idea what would feast on a salmon and leave the bones and skin. Otter perhaps?

We both fished by the orchard, it was a warm but overcast day. The river was at summer level but we fished a comfortable position and was able to cast to the far side. It started off slow then a couple of hours into it we starter to catch some nice barbel to almost 8lbs, with the odd chub to around 4lbs.
What a fantastic part of the river, so good we have booked to go at the beginning of October.
The Usk and Wye Foundation have always given a great service with booking on the internet. Thanks.

Beat:Sugwas Court

Fishing:All Species (in season)

August 2014: 9 NEW SWIMS have been cleared on the upper part of this beat. Anglers are encouraged to explore this section as there is a run of faster water that will hold barbel and can produce salmon here. From the uppermost swim, anglers in thigh waders will be able to wade up river and enjoy some excellent trotting water.

Very clear water, on a cloudy day with sunny spells.
Good beat, very scenic, some fish rising one of which I managed to get! Good access to the water but parking is a bit on an issue, there were a few walkers with over exited dogs but on the whole it was quiet, however I have a feeling that this beat would be busy during the holiday season or Bank holidays.
Back to the fishing, 1 small trout caught on a Klinkhammer, tried Klink n dink, and north country spiders.

Beat:Pwll y Faedda near Erwood

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:2

38 x grayling 7-15 inches, 4 x trout 6-12 inches, various dries and North Country spiders. A nice warm day, mostly cloudy, with a light upstream breeze. 11 inches on the Llanstephan gauge. Grayling (with a few exceptions most were in the junior class at 10 inches or so) were very ready to rise today, although sport slowed down a bit during the afternoon. Trout fading from the scene slightly, as we expect this month.

Fished the field next to the orchard. The river was clear and the weather was overcast, fishing pellet and paste tight to far side. We had a great day and if the river had more water the fishing might have been better than it was. Both of us really enjoyed the day and looking forward to next month as we will be coming back then.
Thanks for a great day.
