Bright and very warm made conditions difficult. Dreaming of babbling pools popping with wbt but found a sleepy, slow, meandering stream.
Persevered with dries and managed 6 wbt, one clonker of around 14". All returned in good condition, thanks partly to barbless hooks.
Despite tough conditions I liked this beat. Takes about 4 hours to fish, easier to navigate than the Escley beats and looks really fishy.
Will definitely return, maybe May next time.

I fished for salmon my two friends were fishing for trout. One possible salmon seen, non connected with. A few small trout caught. We returned for the evening rise after a pub meal but it failed to materialise! Still a great day out on the river in a lovely part of Wales.

More like a July or August day - lovely weather but no fly life and nothing rising. This isn't an easy beat. Good to see kingfishers for the first time this year.

Only fished for an hour. My wife had her first Wye dunking! Caught one eight inch trout on heavy nymph before she went off to dry out. We saw two leaping salmon though!

This was my first experience of the Kington Wild Beat. As expected it has a similar feel to the top section of Hergest Court. There are some surprisingly deep pools. I had to work hard for my four trout (of 6-10 inches). The weather was bright, warm and still. The river was flowing swiftly and slightly coloured. In several hours I only saw one fish on the surface. Tried a variety of dries and some wets - not a sausage. All four fish came from broken water to weighted nymphs.
