Only fished Lady Alexander's Catch pool. Overcast in morning, bright in afternoon. Lower access gate does not open cleanly; need to regrade the path surface. Fished well in morning with better fish being caught (grayling to 1.5lb) on bead head hares ear fly. Very difficult in the afternoon once sun came out but able to tease a few out of the deep fast water using heavy bugs and Czech nymphing.

Slightly misty conditions in morning. Started at Bridge Pool in the faster water and picked up 5 grayling fishing across and down with a team of spiders and a beadhead bug on the point. Moved up to the tail of rock Pool where the same tactics yielded another 8 grayling. Grayling mainly taking the beadhead bug point fly. Both these beats are full of salmon parr, which augers well for the future. 3 nice brown trout taken from the Ty Mawr pool on beadhead hare's ear flies.

A lovely Autumn day on the Wye but fishing still was challenging. Very little by way of a hatch - just a few olives and no silver tourists to be seen so the salmon rod was waved more as a statement of intent rather than with serious expectation. The fish have had a tough year looking at their current condition - all the sizeable trout up to 16" were underweight for their length and both they and the grayling carried significant numbers of lice. Still a great beat though - we hadn't really fished the bottom end before but there is some fantastic water for dry fly. Best grayling also 16".

Firstly big thanks to Terry Ward for putting me on to the fish. Brilliant day all round, excellent fishery, wild, clean, and no litter. Caught from the first cast and continued like that all day. Fished from the gravel bar on Beat 4 and later in Loxsters Pool. Landed everything I hooked. Biggest chub was 4lb 10oz and biggest barbel was 9lb 10oz. Again thanks for an excellent days fishing on my birthday. Will certainly book again.

Arrived at the river at 2pm to fish the Wye for the first time on recommendation from a friend and Wye regular Bob Gascoigne. The level was low with a brown tinge and the conditions were tremendous bright t-shirt weather. Made my way to the bottom end of the beat. I fished a groundbait feeder to the far bank and caught 10 Barbel and 6 Chub including a Chub of 5lb, a new personal best. A beautiful river in a beautiful setting maintained well, I'll be sure to return.

River was low and coloured when I got there at 15:00. I had a 6lb and 9lb 4oz immediately and thought it was going to be a bumper afternoon but it then went dead. Just on dusk I had another pair at 6lb 7oz and 10lb followed by a late Chub of just under 4lb.

Arrived to find track nice and dry which made this stretch very accessible for us. We had good look round and found many swims. We started fishing all spread around beaches area which was very comfortable. Two of us started on float and caught some chub and one barbel, the others started on pellet feeder a few chub and odd barbel were taken through out the morning. We then had a lunch break. After lunch we resumed in same area with one of us trying some different areas on float catching some more chub and dace and a few more barbel and chub coming to pellet feeder from beaches. Then, after another tea break we settled in for the evening all now on pellet feeder on beaches catching at regular intervals. At 6.30ish two anglers moved to new swims catching three more barbel all anglers caught barbel biggest 9.05. General stamp of fish very good. Weather was warm a little sun and some cloud, a great day had by all.
