16lb hen fish caught by Geraldine Gaffney at 12.15 from top croy at the hut on an orange FC. Excellent condition. Returned safely. This was Geraldine's first Wye salmon!
River in good order. Very little canoe traffic but plenty of spectators above the footbridge!

I'm mainly a small stream fisherman and these big Welsh rivers are bit baffling, frankly. I've fished the Teifi a few times whilst on holiday and had a (very) few, always on a nymph.
Firstly there's the wading. It's either slabbed pavements, with unnerving, sudden drop-offs into deep channels or slippery boulders to clamber over. Secondly, there's the water. You undoubtedly get a lot of it but an awful lot seems to be shallow runs over bare rocks, devoid of fish.
I was fishing the lower section on a bright, sunny, warm day so I don't suppose that helped. Plenty of insects about but no fish seen and no rise forms either. I fished various dry flies but I really didn't know whether I was wasting my time or not. Generally, if you don't know, you usually are so I gave up after an hour or so. I suspect you need to be trundling heavy nymphs along the bottom of those channels to catch anything.
Very picturesque river but I think you need a local guide to get the best out of it. No takes, no fish seen.

Really bright sunny day. Very few fish moving, fished hard all day and had a few slashing rises but only one take, a small black finned trout. Beautiful location.

Started at 6am below the bridge and landed a 7/8lb bright silver fish on a Cascade 15mm brass tube fished on a sink tip Skagit line. Although this is my first fish this season it was a bit of an anticlimax as I lost a much bigger one Wednesday and keep thinking what might have been. Dedication to the needs of the angling public took me to work at 10am.

Just a few hours last minute fishing because the opportunity presented itself. Tried combination of Spinning, (Flying C) and Fly, (various) to no avail. Several big rises on the far bank by Wood Cribb!

1 fish caught and returned - about 1/2 pound. Caught on a olive emerger. Fantastic location - even if the fishing was hard work that day.

Between 12 and 15 today not sure how many. All took mayfly smallest 8 inches, largest a whopping 15 inches, very big for this stream. Also hooked and lost one much bigger from the deepest pool on the beat.

Having driven from Goodrich Court as we felt the river was too dirty there, we found Ty-Newydd in fine form, if a little bright. A very enjoyable days fly fishing. Between us we saw one salmon in the Bathing Pool and one in the Spout. No fish caught though.
There is quite a big willow trunk and branches that could do with cutting free from the top planks.

A very enjoyable couple of hours spent on this delightful small stream. I only had time to fish up to the sewage works but managed two lovely wild browns of 10 inches and one of 8 inches. It was a warm day with loads of fly hatching but not many fish rising so caught all fish on a small upstream beaded hares ear nymph. I think just the right amount of trimming has taken place making the fishing challenging which is what wild stream fishing is all about. I would just add it would be helpful if there was some help in passing the in-stream live stock gates as these were quite challenging in waders rod in hand etc.
