Bright sunshine, crystal clear water, a fair bit of wind (to which this beat is prone) and quite a few walkers and paddlers making a bit of a splash - so not the easiest of days. Rise occurred between about 11am and 2pm. Ended up fishing deeper with small PTN on very light line and caught two good browns and lost two others - one a fish of a lifetime which has been replaying in my mind ever since!

Two great days, first ever river fishing experience. River still cold and fly activity only apparent after 13:00. Much evidence of small brownies and many afternoon rises to fly (suspected mockery)but too difficult a catch for beginners. Donated multiple flies including the much heralded local fly the "Dai Bach" to the bankside trees and slipped on the slate bottom of the river. Two otters spotted at end of the beat by the church and this cant be doing stocks much good. Wonderful beat for casting tuition and for first river experience. Stayed in Hendre Farm at the end of the beat and this gave Grandad easy vehicle access to the river bank. A great week-end and thankfully the weather was kind. A beautiful river in a beautiful setting.

Had a bad start to the day - broke my rod. After cutting it and losing 6" off the length was able to fish. River was low and clear, plenty of fly life hatching. Saw plenty of fish but could not get anywhere near them. A few splashes. Landed just one grayling of 18" but the battery was low in my phone so it wouldn't take a photo!!! Very happy as first grayling I've evey caught. Still new to this river fly lark.

Bugeilyn fished well on Saturday morning, I had 8 fish to just over half a pound until I left at 11am. Temperature was about 12 degrees with a gusty wind, so only the right bank was really fishable. I was using a gold bead bibio on the point to fish a little deeper, then a B&P spider on the dropper and claret dabbler on the bob. Fish came to all three, with the latter taking the majority. Lots and lots of takes and lost a few fish as well, they're quite hard to hook properly, all fish returned.

Just had the most exciting morning fishing Wyebank - went out early, no signs, went back 9 and after 9.30 had a 10 pounder bottom pool and as I was playing it a fish porpoised and for the next 10 minutes or so fish like peas in a pod were porpoising through with one significant prince/princess amongst them which actually looked like a porpoise! Had another 10lb fish after they had passed and then a hook pull on another. Only fished the one pool for a couple of hours in all and then went back again midday fished the Wyebank run and lost another. size 8 black and yellow pinched barbs. Needless to say fresh fish in superb condition. Not a canoe to be seen all morning, brilliant, perfect level and clear with strong running water. Summer level.

Fished from 10 til 4 today and had some good fun on a #14 para Adams. Lots of fly life including a few mayfly starting to appear. All fish in good condition including the clonker which took off like a train and managed to wriggle himself off the barbless hook. Would of liked to get a good look at that one but never mind, I know where he lives.....
