Very quiet evening after a hot still day. Pleasant to be out but only one small trout to a brown klink.

First time on this beat, very hot, river low, like a pond on top. Started at 6am, nothing by nine so moved down over the hill. I explored wood but fishing not really viable, overgrown and access to river dangerous. The one spot was a boulder field and tackle graveyard. Tried every spot down to border, fished extensively from gravel beach only to be told by a local on the opposite bank that we were wasting our time. Moved back up to the top for the afternoon. This was spoilt by anglers on far bank who were loud and whose every other word was an expletive. Fished most WUF waters, this is the worst yet and does not compare to others. I think it is important that new waters are accurately assessed, it would be a mistake to rush to open new beats, not of previous quality. Only saying this as others have made similar comments.

Fished the pools above Dolauhirion Bridge and caught a Brown Trout about 12 inches long, which was safely returned. Gradually worked my way downstream until I reached the bridge and fished last light at the tail of the pool below the bridge, where I saw a cruising sea trout earlier in the day. I had a savage take, but failed to connect. An enjoyable evenings fishing.

Hot at 7am start and got hotter. Any salmon had given up from the start and I gave up by 3pm. Fly fished the day so only benefit was plenty of casting practice with new line set up.

Hot bright day with low water - little visible movement. More chance of catching one of the many labradors that chased sticks for the many passers by - much be school holidays. Lovely day and a token small trout at the end of it.

Got here about 7.45am, walked up and down the river opposite the island...whoooo, what a bit of water! But now where do you fish? The bottom end of the island is very open and flowing hard over an uneven river bed by the looks, so as this was going to be in full sun all day, I opted for the swims in the shade! Even more turbulent water here and a big drop to the water? Not the most comfortable fishing but trotting sweetcorn accounted for 7 Chub 2-3lbs. Set up a feeder rods for meat, never bothered with feeders but opted for straight lead and constant feeding by hand, hemp and small cubes of meat were fed at regular intervals. 2 Chub (size as earlier) and 7 barbel took the large chunks of meat hair rigged on 12lbs P- line and a size 4 drennan widegape specialist. The fishing here is good but care needs to be taken as some of the bank access by the faster flowing water is risky and if wet could require anglers to be very careful whilst clambering up and down. Landing fish on the steep sided banks would be aided by a 3m long (strong) landing net handle. Stay in the shade and you will get some savage takes! Surprised me where I caught barbel today!

Hot, bright conditions and water low and clear. Saw plenty of fish and numerous rises but couldn't tempt one. The river in the two woodland sections is completely inaccessible from the overgrown banks but plenty of other stretches to cast from.
Overall a lovely stretch of river in a peaceful location.
