Started on nymph without luck, tried on dry fly on the only 2 fished I spotted rising but it seemed they had other plans. No hatches of any kind. The bottom is full of caddis but maybe the water temperature too low. Lovely day though.

Fished for most of the afternoon. No fish seen or caught sadly - river was probably too high to be fishing anyway. I only saw one canoeist which is quite odd for the beat and time of year. Lovely beat to fish from.

Interesting beat. The water was still a little too high which made the wading quite hairy in some of the nymphing water and also limited where you could dry fly fish in the flats. The MBs came of in pulses during the afternoon which made for some exciting fishing as we tried our best to make the most of the short hatches. Amazing to see the reaction of the fish when the MBs were hatching. Not the most prolific day - a handful of fish each to 1.75lbs.
This beat has the feel of somewhere that gets poached a lot. This was confirmed in the afternoon when we kicked off two poachers on the opposite bank and were told off by someone on the opposite bank accusing us of poaching (which we weren't)! Our feeling was that this beat needs to be checked for poaching more often and doesn't really justify the price, especially given that it's single bank.

Very slow today. Arrived 1pm and decided from the off to fish size 18 beadhead nymph. About 2.30pm they switched on hitting nymphs in the fast streamy water and heads of pools. Fished till 4pm, all fish between 8-13 inches mainly around the 9 inch mark. Water temps still low. A steady hatch of large dark olives began at 2.30 but not a single rise to the dunns.

No fish taken today. I fished from about 9 to 1pm. Perhaps too early in the day. A few olives started to hatch but no rises seen. This beat is an ideal one for Tenkara. I was fishing march brown spider.

Fished from 2 till 5 nothing caught. River was higher than I was expecting and slightly coloured. A few Olives were hatching but I saw no rises. I will return when it warms up a bit to a very promising looking beat.

After speculating with the Duo in the morning a swap to long leader nymphing around noon caught a 16", 15"and a 14" all on a size 14 tungsten gold head hairs ear, all in good condition.A good hatch of March Browns started around 1.30pm which got some good fish moving in the lower pool. Two fish were hooked and lost on a Deer hair quill emerger which was frustrating. The hatch finished as quickly as it started so I spent the after noon exploring the upper section of the beat.

First visit to this beat, and was welcomed by a huge otter which we watched feeding for 5 minutes in the lower part of the stretch. In fact, throughout the day, the wildlife was out in force. Saw many Kingfishers, Butterflies and a variety of Flies coming off, mainly Olives but saw a few Grannom making an early appearance. Despite this, the fish were not overly keen to rise, and we had to work hard and cover a lot of water to find them. The best fish being a 2 and a half pound Trout which took a tiny Duster with the most subtle of takes.
