Weather forecast wrong again strong cold wind blowing most of the day nothing much happening but did manage a reasonable brown trout with a hares ear. Look forward to warmer days.

14 pound with longtailed sealice, spinning.

Fished from Maddox down to Vanstone with 1" tube with no offers then again spinning with red flying C and hooked a 9lb Pike. Fished again on Friday in bright sunshine with no offers. Decided to call it a day at 14.00. Great beat will fish again.

Difficult day for trout. Cold, with a strong downstream wind. 0.95m on EA Erwood gauge, which made the gutters on the bottom part of the beat difficult to fish. Only a few flies about, including one or two March Browns and even a few Hawthorns. Only seen a handful of rises all day. Stuck to nymphs and spiders. Two of us managed 8 trout between 7 and 13", mostly from the top section of the upper beat (Orchard), which is a nice bit of water.

Fly - No 10 GP on a 5ft fast sink tip. Blue rapala. River in good condition, clear, about 1-6.

Perfect conditions, a few olives emerging, all fish taken on CDC emerger. Lovely stretch of river.

River a bit high. Fly only. Met beat owner, very nice guy. Lovely beat, will be back.

A lovely, easily accessible beat (for 4x4s) with parking at the riverside.
I fished for trout on a dry, overcast day with a very chilly wind. I only had a salmon parr (using a PTN) to show for my efforts. There were fish rising at the car park pool but, frustratingly, I couldn't present a dry fly properly due to the wind direction.
I'd like to have another crack at this beat on a warmer, less windy day

Water noticeably lower, slower and less coloured than on Monday but nothing seen.
