Good water, clearing well. No salmon but two good pike both in early 20lbs reported to a syndicate member spinning from beat 2. River now receiving another good spate so we will see what it brings in a couple of days.

Good water height and clearing. Hooked and lost one fish of around 3lb on the fly. I suspect it was an escapee Rainbow or a very silver brown trout. My mate reckoned it was a Salmon but they are not that small in the Wye!

Good water with a little colour. Thought nymphs would work but no takes. More recce than fishing. Much fast water above Titley bridge but nothing in possibly the best holding pool in Lyonshall Wood - then saw a possible culprit as bloated Cormorant bolted after hiding for a while. Nice looking beat hope fishing improves.

Slight rise on river and coloured but good fishy sort of day, though Wye gauge at Fownhope does not seem to show up dated height but guess about 2 ft or so, no sign of any fish but cracking 21 pounder fresh run springer on fly nearly went up to Hereford but came back for the weigh in and safe release! Nice classic clean fish which is wonderful to see, hope she makes to the redds.

First day out this season and what a good session it was. Fished with spider patterns in the fast water. Four good and healthy trout were taken as well as missing some other offerings.

I started fishing a little way downstream from the bridge, and worked my way up past 3 gates across the river, so probably haven't covered half of the beat. Water fairly clear and too deep for wading in places. Fortunately I'm fairly athletic, so wasn't too put off by the absence of any recognisable paths.
Goldhead nymph fishing produced one take, somehow missed, luckily there were fish rising in just a few places. A brief period when I managed to turn over the leader nicely and land a black gnat parachute delicately ahead of feeding fish, instead of in the branches on the opposite bank, resulted in two 8 inch WBT.
I would definitely visit again.

Nil caught on fly or spinner for salmon, hooked 3 really good size trout I would guess at 1.5lb to the biggest at 3lb to be lost at the net! Nothing showing on fly in morning hatch. But afternoon hatch the fish were rising readily but out of reach for my small rod. Good day would fish there again.
