Lovely stretch of river spoilt only by the fact that the water had risen overnight and was coming through at great pace with debris (including a whole tree), which meant that only the very inside swims were fishable. Would certainly fish this stretch again.

Unfortunately no fish were caught on the day. My original plan was to fish the Doldowlod beat although when I arrived the water was very coloured and the river was running very wild so I moved on a bit further up. The water at Llangurig was much clearer so I decided to go ahead as this beat has produced some trophy fish in the past for me even when the fishing conditions weren't great. Unfortunately this wasn't the same. I only had a single take this day and the fish was lost in seconds so the only thing remained was to look at the beauty of the scenery as this was the only fish for the rest of the day. This was a day with heavy rains that was feeding the river which was running fast, a bit high and slightly coloured.

After two days unable to fish because the car was in the garage it was great to get it back making it possible to get fishing by lunchtime. Heavy rain on and off for most of the afternoon but still had a good session with the best barbel of 9lb 2oz and chub to 4lb 11oz all caught on pellet.

With the river rising all day the fishing was unsurprisingly difficult. Some bites on meat late on almost certainly a chub, but really hard work in pouring rain. A rather large salmon showed itself spectacularly in the afternoon. A wonderful beat to which I shall return.

A very windy and rainy day. The river was still relatively clear but obviously had a fair bit of extra water but still low for the time of year. In addition the new water had definitely chilled the overall temperature. Arriving just as it got light I fished in the wood, I decided that I would stay put in one location pretty much all day, mainly under the brolly! Simple feeder method with pellets and homemade boilies for bait. Had a nice barbel 9ib 6oz at about 1 o'clock and further two about 5 o'clock and half six. Fished until dark and lost another just before packing up which would have finished the day really well, in the end a good day. Had a nice chat with Rudi and he offered plenty of useful advice, he told me a would have a hard day but I've definetely had far worse! Many thanks. Hopefully be back again soon.
