1 small salmon (red) returned. River looked good and plenty of fly about but trout were not playing. Thanks to Barry for a great day and will be looking to return soon when hopefully there will be a bit more water.

Such a fun day, great sport with grayling up to 3/4 lb on soft hackles and dry (stimulator size 14). A fine autumn day, and the kingfisher to keep me company.

The river was in perfect condition. I think it could have had a few more fish, as the habitat was very good. Flies used and caught fish on: Shuttlecock, CDC Caddis grey, Red Tag, hare's ear nymph. Lost two fish.
We stayed in the Carlton Riverside, which was okay. However, the landlord was not aware of the need to book tickets online. Happy to see dippers and kingfishers.
Met a very happy Simon Evans at the river after he just received news about the record numbers of Salmon fry ;-) Thanks for your great river conservation efforts and congratulations to the salmons' return!

3 barbel from Legg Meadow to Elips pellet and feeder approach on a warm sunny day when bites were hard come by. 2 barbel in the 4-5 pounds range and a beauty of 8lb 5oz, taken on the last cast of the day, just as the light was fading.

This was my first attempt at wild trout fishing and I enjoyed it very much. The morning was very quiet, no fish were showing so I spent an hour or two fishing with a variety of nymphs without success. The weather was good with sun from about midday so I was hoping for one of those September hatches. However, whilst I spotted some activity, no fish where feeding off the top. I switched to an emerger and began to get some sport with an olive klinkhammer. I missed several takes through lack of practice before my one trout(11inches) was taken. The grayling were great sport and all fish were caught and returned at the wear. Looking forward to trying another beat next season.

We lost a couple of barbel in the morning and was sure of some sort of action late afternoon evening, but they were our only bites. Not one other thing happened.

Hard work on a low and clear river. Fish taken on spiders/emergers in the morning when there were a few fish rising. Cold wind pm soon put paid to that.

No fish caught. Fished the first roadside swim from 7am to 10am then had to bring my fishing partner back home to Cambridge as was feeling poorly. I had one violent take about 8am only to be snapped off on a snag about 1/3 the way out. Used swim feeder pellets. River conditions good. Saw lots of Buzzards, Ravens, Hobby and quite a few Kingfishers.
A great venue, will be back.
