A lovely beat which requires some route planning across the rocks to make the most of some cracking pools and glides! The fish were reluctant to show themselves so nymphs were the order of the day. Things started well with a couple of good trout to the net but then a couple of canoeists came splashing their way through my swim!!! Needless to say things went quiet for a while! It was late afternoon when the next fish came to the net and worth the wait it was too a nice grayling of about 1.5lb which took a cased caddis on a quick retrieve, this was soon followed by a few more small fish. All in all a nice day with a few fish on a lovely stretch of water what else can you ask for!(no canoes lol)

River conditions were low, no fish caught.
I feel access to the lower sections on this beat are poor and is more suited to spinning, this should be highlighted to give better beat information.

Broke out the trotting gear around mid day had a couple of Chub and about 30 Dace (lost count really). Swithed back to the feeder for the last couple of hours and caught a small Barbel right at the end of the session.

Water was the lowest I've seen on the Wye since we've fished here over the last 7 years. The weather was hot and sunny. Despite moving to several pegs over the beat and using different methods, we only managed 3 small chub. Hope we do better at Middle Hill Court tomorrow.

Not the best start to the day, whilst traversing the path to the lower section I slipped and tumbled 25 feet down the bank, breaking my rod in the process!(lucky I had a spare). The water had a hint of colour and managed to catch several fish - grayling all 10 to 12" and biggest trout was about 1.75 pound - and to cap the day off, I fell over in 3 feet of water! Sometimes 1 wading stick is just not enough!

Fishing very hard. Water so low, even the ever reliable Wye chub seemed absent... so once again everything was great except the fishing. Thought it would pick up in early evening as the day before but no luck. However we were given almost hourly demonstration of how to do it by the resident kingfisher. We hoped he'd do a Crabtree and perch at end of a rod but no luck with that either :))

Dry, overcast morning. Rain from 2pm until 3.30pm, quite heavy at times. Mild, AT from low 20s to mid 20s just before rain, when it became cooler. River very low, WT 14.5C. Not much activity. Occasional rising trout. Caught 6 up to 1lb 4oz on parachute Adams, gold head PTN and green nymph. Better fish not moving. Nice to see flashes of colour of a pair of kingfishers.

Fished the beat from 9.30am to about 5.00pm. Within those few hours we experienced mist, full bright sunshine, light drizzle and heavy rain. The first hour proved to be most productive with some of the best trout (about a pound) and grayling (maybe three quarters of a pound) coming to flies trundled through the faster broken water. By midday bright sunshine slowed things down before they picked up again in the mid-afternoon drizzle. The heavy rain coloured the water remarkably quickly in the final hour.
Very little in the way of surface activity beyond the acrobatic Salmon and small trout in Erwood Pool. All our fish fell to weighted nymphs and spiders. As many were missed or shook themselves free as came to hand. So it was a pleasant and satisfying way to bid farewell to the 2014 season.
