I was doing well until something very big grabbed the bait, disappeared at warp factor eight and actually managed to snap the butt section of a Hardy Marksman feeder rod. Bait was pellet. I have no idea what it was, but I have caught 40lb carp that were nowhere near as powerful.

A lovely days fishing on my 1st visit to this beat. Arrived 9am fished until 2pm. Had a good variety of fish on heavy nymphs fished through the deeper sections. Best trout at 1 1/2lb, best grayling slightly smaller. All fish returned safely.

River fairly low and slightly coloured. Fished the top bend with an audience on deck chairs on the far bank. Had 3 dace on caster. Fed hemp and caster and had four barbel, biggest was 10lb. The water level dropped a foot and all bites dried up so dropped down into next peg and had 2 more barbel with another 10lber. Lovely place and a nice days fishing but a very long walk!

Returned today to find the far bank free of other anglers which gave us much more freedom to roam and much improved results. Fed very little feed today and caught on pellets, meat and crust. Great day.

Reservoir fished well, everyone else else seemed to be catching their quota too. All under 1.5 pounds though, would be nice to catch a few bigger fish next time!

Had a rather frustrating day as my 86yr old Dad wanted to come with me, meaning there was only one swim that we could get to. Still had a nice day though - I will definitely come back to fish the better swims.

Abstraction pumps were a nuisance for most of the day. Otherwise a lovely days fishing. Will visit more WUF waters in the future. Thank you.

Method of fishing was cage feeder and PVA tubing. Fish caught on pellet. When I booked the beats I asked if access to the pegs was easy, as I am a senior citizen, and was told it was. On the recommended stretch from the water works only two of the pegs were accessable to anything other than a mountain goat.

A nice day to be back on this lovely beat. A few fish rising here and there throughout the day, with willow flies being the most abundant. All but two of the fish taken on dries.
