Fishing was extremely hard, just one barbel hooked and lost due to a hook pull. Not entirely sure why the river is not producing, the conditions seemed favorable.

An enjoyable days fishing although the river was very low and not very conjusive to fly fishing. Access to some pools was somewhat tricky because of the low water levels. I did not see any fish although some local anglers informed me that there were a number of resident fish in the river but they were not taking. Part and parcel of salmon fishing.

Very nice stretch of river but a herd of cows exhibiting their usual nosiness followed me upstream on the right bank, with just one strand of barbed wire between me and their threatening bulk which was most off-putting! River was difficult to traverse given some deep vertical banks and extensive bankside vegetation (there is a need to egress river often due to deep pools). I only fished the lower half so further upstream may differ in character. The fish showed no interest in a nymph, but I did have three takes on a dry none of which I managed to connect with much to the disgust of said audience.

River was fairly low. Access quite difficult. Some lovely fly water though. I did not see any signs of a fish although I did catch a wild brown trout.

Excellent days fishing on this fantastic stretch of the River Usk. Rained most of the day but plenty of rising trout which were tempted by f- flies, hoppers and terrestials and. prince nymphs Hares ears p.tn.s.. This is a secluded beat with easy access and easy wading. caught trout to 2llb and plenty of them. No Salmon seen or caught by Mr C. F. Had such a good day we have booked it for next week.
