A new stretch to us so despite the river being low and fish not really biting all weekend we fished for a few hours. It looks a nice stretch. We fished the 2 swims at the bottom of the tree line from where our vehicle was parked. River too low to fish most of the other swims. Nothing caught unfortunately.

Rained off after an hour. Far too wet and slippery to continue safely. No fish caught.

It was nice day till 9am when heavy rain started for almost all day. It is long walk. Bigger problem than walking is that you have to go over a field fences to get to best part of the river which is opposite to the garden. Big problem are the bullocks in the first field near the river. Between you and them is only single wire with I guess 12 volts. I had to hide behind the trees and bushes to cross this field, otherwise I think they would attack me, because I could see how they moved and it was not nice feeling. I fished opposite the garden, first 2 chub, then I moved to other swim on the beach at 9am. From that place I caught 3 Barbel, 5lbs, 6lbs 5oz and 8lbs 5oz. Feeder tactic with luncheon meat and halibut pellet. Be ready to lose lot of rigs. Nice place to fish.Thank you

I have never seen the river so low - there was so little water most of the canoes that came through ran aground at some point. Caught chub throughout the day, but barbel in fits and starts. Chub from 4lb to just under 6lb with most barbel in the 7 to 8lb range and one double. All the chub were caught on small ellipse pellets glued to the hair with a small open ended feeder filled with ground bait and micro pellets. Most of the barbel fell to 2 x 12ml pellets on the hair and micro pellets in a closed end feeder. Half were fished from the bank, but I eventually got half way across the river and trotted pellets with a small ledger and small pva mesh bags to find the fish. Used my 2 hardy marksman rods alternately - feeder and Avon with 12lb main line, 20lb micro braid hook links and size 10 hooks. As well as being low the water was warm enough to take a bath in - and more weed coming through than I can remember. A very tough day but still one of my favorite Wye and Usk beats.

Fished from afternoon until evening for carp using s/corn , l/meat, floating crust, without any luck. Casting to bubblers and to surface fish but they just weren't interested. Lots of fish showing on surface but only saw 1 fish take 1 of the many free offerings. Better luck next time maybe. Thanks to WUF for the easy booking service and for opening up venues such as this one.

What a difference a day makes from full sun to howling storm. The river had lots of visitors from double kayak six man racing teams to a swimmer who swam up and down the river!
Caught three barbel to seven and a half pounds as I had the day before and two chub. All caught late in the day on pellet.
In the middle and lower sections of this stretch there is a need for some additional access to the water.

Day 2 of 4 on WUF. River low. Fished the bottom two pegs from 7am to 11:30am, without a touch on either rod. Torrential rain all morning, which continued throughout the day. When we left at 11:30am, the banks were getting very slippery. Intended to return for an evening session, but the rain continued and we decided that the banks were too dangerous. Disappointing to be beaten by the weather.
