Difficult evening, river low, seems to be carrying algae bloom, as not running clear? Trout deep in fast runs caught on small heavy nymph. Need some rain!

Having negotiated the very difficult and dangerous footpath we set up at the bottom of the beat where there was a pool and fast water on the opposite side. Water level here is very low. We had no bites during the morning and the canoeists came steadily. At about midday a large group of canoeists decided to beach themselves on the croys just upstream many of them wading through the water. Presumably this moved the barbel down to us as we caught 3 in quick succession.
There were no more till the evening when a quick flurry resulted in two of over 8lbs (seemed like twins) one for each of us.

A beautiful sunny day on the river lovely beat to fish. Unfortunately the water level was rather low and water was very clear. Started fishing at Sennybridge and made our way down to the end of the beat. We had no luck on the top part of the river and did not see any fish rising at all. When we got down to the small waterfall I hooked a small brown trout about 6 ounces which I returned. Apart from this did not catch anything although we did see quite a few fish rising in the pools above and below the waterfalls. We also saw lots of small hatchlings in these pools as well.
Apart from this a great day out and a good walk along the river banks which have been kept in good condition.
Look forward to fishing this beat again when the water level is slightly higher up.

Very sunny and hot conditions and river low but with a tinge of colour. It was the first time we have fished this stretch and so took awhile to decide where to fish. As expected fishing was hard and bites came spasmodically throughout the day to pellet feeder. 5 Barbel to 9lbs and 5 small chub.
