Enjoyed my day, some really nice streamy water. Some of the meanders however were rather dull. Lots hatching including mayfly. Caught loads of tiddlers using a variety of small pattern dry's, nothing else though - where were the bigger ones?

Only managed to fish for about an hour (work really gets in the way doesn't it!). Dry fly only, had a couple of takes on a grey wolf but nothing caught. There were plenty of fish there though. Will definitely do this one again though.

Had a real grueller yesterday despite starting the session around 4.30am and fishing straight through to 9.30pm. Lost a fish early on but blanked otherwise. My friend saved the blank at dusk with a sinlgle 5lb barbel but generally very difficult. Conditions looked perfect and we both took the usual pellet/feeder approach (varied hook sizes/lengths, used range of pellets 8>11 mm). As we are both new to this water any suggestions (from seasoned Wye fanatics) as to why this might be (semi polite only) MUCH appreciated.
AMAZING venue, thanks WUF for opening these beats, long may you prosper!

What a memorable days fishing! The quality of the fish here is fantastic! A big thank you to Don for putting me in the right swim. The first bite came within 30 seconds of casting resulting in a 9lb barbel. Other fish caught were barbel averaging 5-7lb and chub in 2-3lb class, plus one eel that got its head stuck in my swim feeder. It is good to see that eels are still about in the river even if they are a pain. Thank you WUF.

8 barbel, 3 of which were over 9lb, numerous chub including a personal best of 5lb 7oz for me and a few eels. Pellet and boilie fished on running lead rigs did the trick. Great river, great fishery, back in 2 weeks!

Started out up in the top swims, very snaggy and riddled with eels. I had 17 of the things! If I wasn't catching them they and the chublets are adept at removing boilies from the hair. Fished here before so expected it (it is the Wye after all!) but eventually the snags and eels got to me so I moved to the shallows fishing in amongst the streamer weed at the cattle drink for 9 barbel to 9.1lbs.
My old man did a bit of roving after, likewise getting frustrated with the snags up the top and managed a 6.10lbs barbel and a cracking 4.13lbs chub, again from the shallow streamy sections which nobody seems to fish.
Do something different and reap the rewards ;-)
Another lovely day of nettle stings, crashing salmon and hard fighting barbel.

Really hot day with a welcome cool breeze coming off the river. Water level low and still falling but still some colour.

Began fishing at 9am. 3 chub caught by 11am so moved 20 yards along the bank & immediately caught barbel. Warm sunny day but with some cloud and much cooler than last week. River was very clear but looked good. Fished until 9pm and eventually caught 13 barbel & 8 chub. All nice fish. Nice to see lots of salmon showing in the river.
