A lovely days fishing back on the Usk at Glan Usk Estate.
Not much movement throughout the whole day. The odd fish rising but they could not be tempted by either a wet or dry. Small March Brown hatch started at lunchtime but no increase in activity.
3 small brown trout were caught, all under 1/2lb so all returned safe and sound.
I certainly will return later in the year to try once again.

First visit, and surprised by the varied character of the water with plenty of inviting spots. One small BT to a gb hares ear, which frankly was a bit crass, as something more subtle was called for, but couldn't be bothered to change when there was so much to explore and enjoy! A short rod is preferable, not so much for casting but for raising and retrieving.

Cold and wet morning but warmer later in the day. Lost one big fish on a sedge and 3 or 4 other smaller trout swirled at the fly without taking. Otherwise nothing on nymphs and Klinks. Little fly life seen. Lovely stretch of water and worth a visit later in the year.

Fished nymph and caught 4 good fish up to 17". Used pink tag and peeping caddis, hard going but plenty of features. Lovely river but wadding very tricky, especially for Dad. Thank you.

Excellent evening fishing, walked to the downstream start of the beat, first cast and a beautiful male Grayling. Very overgrown, weather was warm and no wind. Lots of very deep holes and had to climb up the bank to get to the next pool in some places. Will return to fish again now I know what to expect from this excellent beat.

Water cloudy. Tried nymphs and wets to no avail. Lots of beat was un-fishable due to steep banks and undergrowth. Only small section capable of wading.
