Beat:Middle Hill Court (R Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

I am a fly fisherman but I like a go with my son for the barbel. Yesterday was outstanding and I have to say we lost count and some of the fish took an age to land. My son begged that we stop as he was exhausted after 5 in a row.

I hope that that everyone treat the fish with respect and uses strong enough tackle and barbless hooks as some of the fish caught had other traces in. Thank you WUF. Didn't see a salmon by the way.

Beat:River Arrow

Fishing:All Species (in season)

29th August, Arrow Mill R30: 6 x trout to 13 inches.
30th August, Monkland R31: 1 x trout 7 inches. Bit of a jungle at this time of the year this one, at least for elderly people like me, and I just gave up with it in the end due to lack of access.

Beat:Abernant & Plas Gwyn (upper Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Another great couple of days fishing this beat. Despite the colour of the water on Saturday 28th we took nine trout and four grayling ranging from 1/2 - 1 pound.

The 29th saw much better conditions water levels slightly lower and clearer with more grayling than trout taking wet flies. The day finished with seven grayling, four trout, and two very happy anglers.
