Beautiful day and lovely beat. 10 trout up to 10 inches caught between the two of us, mostly on the nymph. Fishing on the challenging side given the low water and bright sunshine, but what a pleasure to fish in such glorious weather for a change!

3 eels on pellets. A very hot day, bright and sunny by 6am.
After 12.00 too many canoes to fish. A lovely stretch of water, would like to give it another chance on a cooler autumn day.

A difficult day on Courtfield with temperatures reaching 29 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.
Primarily targeting chub on the float I heeded Don's advice and headed for the Boat pool and just above. Had two 3lb fish before Don's arrival at 8:45 to sweet corn but bites were very sporadic and hard to come by. Not helped by the number of canoes and swimmers coming down the river (I kid you not!)
Managed another couple of fish, biggest just under the 4lb mark by mid afternoon when I called it a day, beaten by the weather and lack of activity.
As ever Don's advice vital to making a very difficult day, conditions wise, worthy of the trip. Thanks Don, see you soon.

Difficult conditions at nearly 30 degrees and cloudless skies. 3 or 4 fish in the half pound range on nymphs during the day. We hoped for a decent evening rise but never fully materialised. A couple of lost fish at last light. Balliff was helpful. Hope for better fishing weather next year. Thanks.

3 average size barbel and 2 chub, all caught in the first three hours of light or the last two hours in the evening. River now very low and the heatwave has reduced the likely productive times, considering night fishing is not allowed.

Arrived at the river about 9am Friday, not surprised to find that the river was low due to lack of rain over the last weeks or so. We set up in our selected swims, the first fish came along at 2pm, a 81/2lb barbel, caught on pellet and cage feeder. No other fish till 7pm, the first a 7lb barbel then about 1/2hr later another barbel about 5lb,same method a before. Fished up to 9pm, no more fish, packed up. Arrived back at the river at 5am Saturday. We all set up in different swims. Fished all day right up to 7pm, no one had a single bite or knock, very disappointed. 2 of us kept moving from swim to swim hoping to catch something, but no good. The only bite we had was about 7pm, a chub, but it came off the hook before we could land it. After that we called it a day.
We put it down to the lack of fish but over the weekend the river was very low and the weather was very hot. Maybe it will be better another time when the weather is cooler and after a bit of rain.
3 Barbel
