None caught or seen on a rising river but looks a good beat when river is right. Too weedy for spinning if water isn't right for the fly.

An enjoyable days fishing inspite of the weather, it rained nearly all day or at least it felt like it. Actually had about 12 fish to hand the largest being about 1lb. Lost almost as many fish as came to hand dropping off barbless hooks, the largest of which was approx 2lb just as I was about to net it. Most of the fish came to a tunsten backed shrimp with others to a gold head pheasant tail nymph. Would fish Penpont again. All fish returned.
Stayed at the Old Store House near Brecon.

Took 7 barbel & 2 chub between us, mostly at the pylon swim. The other parts of the beat ,although looking good, did not deliver. Managed to drive to the river, quite a trek over the field if you can't. As per previous reports the cattle wanted to eat my sons car!
Good day overall.

A very slow day with only four chub and one small barbel between us and we both fished hard all day ringing all the changes. Some of the swims could do with a little maintenance/strimming as the vegetation is overgrowing the steps and making access difficult and in a couple of swims quite hazardous.

Booked through the wyeuskfoundation. They recommended a guide called Chris Taylor who was superb and a lovely man with a good sense of humour.
3 rods over 1 and a half days fishing. 2 adults and 2 children went on the trip, we were camping 4 miles from the estate.
A total of 6 brown trout we caught of which only 2 were keepers at a 1lb in size (12 inches). Fished near the bridge left and right mainly with the main success wading close to the bridge. Also fished about a 5 min walk further down with no success. Small flies used.

After quite a tiring walk along a rather wet and muddy track we arrived at the river. We fished just beyond the bend opposite the Weir Garden on a gravelly beach (a lovely spot) and began catching almost straight away, we ended the day with 19 barbel and 5 chub all caught on pellet. However around 1pm around 30 canoeists came round the bend and landed their craft on the same beach as we were fishing, they had no consideration for me as I had to stop fishing as they had totally surrounded me. I spoke to one lady who seemed to be in charge and she said that they had paid to land there which I found unbelievable. She told me that's tough - deal with it. I have never encountered such rudeness from fellow river users as I have always politely lowered or removed my lines in order to let canoes pass. I ended up losing about an hours fishing due to a bunch of loud mouthed, inconsiderate 18 to 30,s. I have spoken directly to the office regarding this (with more details of the canoe company) and I understand they are investigating the incident.

River up a few inches with a tinge of colour. We fished for barbel in the morning and at last knockings, caught 8 between us to just under 10lbs. All fish in perfect condition and each put up a very satsifying scrap. Trotting bread flake in the afternoon, wearing waders, we had 6 chub to hand which on light tackle fought nearly as well as the barbel! Great days fishing.
