First time I've fished this section. Dropped into first likely looking area had 1 small Barbel probably sub 4lb first cast then struggled a bit before having a small chub of around 2lb followed by a good Chub of 6lb 2oz. Moved down river after lunch where I dropped onto some fish and had 7 more Barbel. One at 10lb 6oz (weighed), another at around 8lbs 8oz and the rest in the 4/7lb bracket. Fished from around 6 AM to 6 PM.
29th
Dropped back in the same spot as previous day had a fish of around 6.5/7lb first cast followed by two more of a similar stamp. Unfortunately got a call to say my wife had been taken to hospital so had pack up at around 8.50am to dash back to Cornwall. Fished from around 07.00am to 08.50am
A great stretch of river.. Although I'll probably be back I think the W & U have a number of great stretches that provide better value for coarse fishing.

Being above Hereford you dont seem to get as many canoes on this beautiful stretch of the Wye and this was the case today. The river was low and clear so I scaled down to 7lb flourocarbon hook length size 12 hook and managed just 9 bites but everyone resulted in a fish on the bank. All the barbel were between 6lb to just under 9lb, the chub around 3lb to 4lb range. SB had 2 chub and lost a big fish later in the day.

Tried everything! Only one proper bite across the group and angler error let us down there!
Lovely looking stretch, great accomodation at the Courtfield Arms, would love to repeat but with the addition of fish!

Difficult fishing conditions but in a short afternoon trip rewarded with 4 good barbel to 8lb and several chub between 2 and 4lb. Thanks to Tim the banks were all nice and trim but will soon be in need another seeing to. A few rods booked this weekend so try and be there before the canoes get to numerous. Good Luck.

What a treat, fish moving but no contact. Good access, Little Run is hot I expected a pull every cast. Shall definitely return if I can. Margins teeming with fry, hope the Heron doesn't spot them.

Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Fished from 1pm-4:30pm. There was a brisk downstream wind with few flies seen hatching and nothing rising, so I decided to nymph rather than use a dry fly. In total I caught 15 trout, all on the same tungsten bead pheasant tail nymph, which was fished using short line nymphing tactics. One good sized fish of about 14 inches caught just before I left.
